Martha Stewart Countdown #26 Crepe-Paper Curtains

Ohhh Myyyy Pumpkin Head!
It’s almost Halloween! I can’t wait to do all kinds of fun things this weekend! What are all my Jaderbugs up to? I still have not decided what I will be for Halloween! I will let little one decide for me! Ceaux Ceaux’s costume will be posted later on today so you HAVE to stay tuned! It’s SO cute! Remember I told you yesterday how I went to a pumpkin patch! Wait till you see my pumpkin. It’s the prettiest little thing I have ever seen. I’ll give you a hint, it’s ______!!!
{{teehehe}}
I have to tell you what happened to me yesterday. While I was paying for my pumpkins the lady behind the counter was like, you were on Martha Stewart. She saw my name on something and I guess she remembered. That was the craziest thing because I was not expecting it. I felt proud! That’s it. Did I get you all excited? I wish it was more. I wish she would have said, “hey you can have allll the pumpkins you want”.  But I paid my hard earned money for them and that felt good!
This craft was so much fun to make. I think I say that about every single craft right! Guess that means it’s my passion. In the middle of the project I started thinking about doing this for different holidays and my mind just took off! I think my mind does that with EVERY craft. I think I am ADD. That’s ok!
Who’s ready to get started?
You will need crepe paper, curtain rod, tape & scissors.

You can measure the length of the window you are putting them on and cut pieces accordingly.  After you cut your piece you will fold the end over the rod.

After the first layer is on you need to scrunch each strip. This gives it an old look.

This is only ONE layer.

After your first layer you need to keep adding more to fill in spaces/gaps that are showing.

Once you are happy with the thickness of it you can now start trimming the strips to your desired length. I made some longer than others so it looks ripped. Remember, this is your craft so you can do it any way you choose to.
This is what your final project should look like! I hope you had fun making it!

Sending you so much crepe paper you can wrap you house in it,

Martha Stewart Countdown #25 Bat Tissue-Paper Garland

I am feeling quite batty I tell ya!
Batterrr-reeee operated…
Battttterrr- up…..
Battttylicious…
You get it right! Let me just tell you how long it took me to do this little craft! Pretty much like 4 tries. I wasted so much tissue paper it wasn’t even funny! I will explain what NOT to do in just a bit so don’t go anywhere!
I had a awesome day! I went to a pumpkin patch and had SOOOO much fun! I never saw so many pumpkins with “warts” all over them! Do pumpkins have warts? {lol}… You know warts are so hard to get rid of! In the South we have what’s called a Traiteurtraiteur is Cajun healer. Go ahead and click the link, it’s so interesting! We take healers very serious and you can find a healer for just about anything! So, if you have warts send me an email and we can get that taken care of!
Let’s get to crafting!

All I used is a BAT cookie cutter.
Some tissue paper! You can use any color but black looks good for a BAT!
You should already have creases in your tissue paper so let’s use them to our advantage. Take about 3 sheets and fold them the way they came in the package.
Then take your cookie cutter (remember you can use any shape you have) and trace it onto the tissue paper. It’s OK if your image goes off of the paper. THIS is the part that got me! When you are cutting the shape out you want to make sure and leave a bit of uncut fold at both ends so the figures can connect to each other.

You will end up with a couple of strings. Simply tape them together to make one long one! Jaderbugs, it’s THAT easy! Can you believe it!
And this my friends is what I used mine for. I know Martha uses hers as real garland but I wanted to put them flat on a some wood. I needed a little choppy-ness above my sink and this did the trick! See all of my rocks above my sink! LOVE ROCKS! I take them from all over the world! Unless I am not supposed to!

Sending you bags full of rocks,
jaderbomb
