Happy Holidays friends! Have you ever wondered how much three French hens actually cost? This is PNC’s 35th year calculating the cost of purchasing the gifts in the holiday classic “The 12 days of Christmas,” through the PNC Christmas Price Index ®.

Today I will show you how to make a DIY version of the third day’s gift of three French Hens. This craft will roughly cost you $45.

I was so excited when I also found out I was doing the 3rd day of the 12 Days of Christmas, Three French Hens. If you know me then you know I love my dog Ceaux Ceaux (who has her own blog) and I was ready to make her look like a “French” Hen, haha!

Who’s ready to get started, because I am! You will love this DIY project!

Supplies for FIRST step:
*Red Berete Hat
*Scissors
*Faux Moss
*Glue Gun
*Red Thin Ribbon
*Faux Tiny Birds
*Faux Tiny Bird Nest
*Mini Eggs I made it a point to use the darker birds because they look a little more like a French Hen.

Step one: Fill your bird nest with your moss, tiny eggs and birds. You can easily do this with the help of your handy hot glue gun. If your kids are helping please assist them with this step!

Step two: Cut a piece of red ribbon (very long piece) and lay it on top of the red berete hat. Next you will add a lot of hot glue to the bottom of the birds’ nest then immediately place the nest on top of the hat, on top of the string.

Let it dry all the way, now your string is secure under the nest. I also added tiny scarves on the birds using the red string. How cute are they!

Supplies for SECOND step:
*Printout of Black Mustache
*Scissors
*Black Fabric
Step one: Cut out your paper mustache and then use it as a template for your black fabric. I had intentions of placing the mustache where is belongs on her face but there was NO way, she kept licking it off as I think most animals would. So just place it above her mouth. It’s still super cute! I used double stick tape for this step.

Supplies for THIRED step:
*Bags of Different Colored Feathers
*Fuzzy Dog Shirt
*Hot Glue Gun Step one: Start at the very top and add a little dot of hot glue to the tip of a feather then place on the shirt. Continue the whole top layer. When moving onto the next color just lift the first layer up and add second layer under first one.  Repeat until the entire back of costume is filled with feathers. I did do research to find out the actual colors of most french hens and I think I pulled off the colors well! The feathers are so light that you can’t really tell a difference in weight when you are all done.

Can we just all stop for a moment and look at this. How cute is Ceaux Ceaux (CO-CO.)

Remember that red string we glued under the birds’ nest? Leave it long is because we will use that to tie under her neck. This will really secure the beret. Don’t forget to situate it to the side a little, just like they do in France.

Don’t forget to add a red scarf around your animals neck! We have to really dig into our “French” side, haha! FYI, yes she is literally sleeping in this picture. She loves sitting for photo shoots believe it or not.

I hope you enjoyed this project! Happy Holidays and huge hugs from my computer to yours!!!

The Simple Secret to using Popsicle Sticks!

Today is the day that we all learn what to do with those left over popsicle sticks!  Wait, does anyone even eat popsicles anymore? When I was little I would rush to get to the wooden taste of the stick!  The craft stores fixed our problems by selling these sticks in packs I will tell ya! I am excited to team up with Kwik Stix for this project and show you how to brighten up your personal space with good ole popsicle sticks.

♥ This is a sponsored post.  All ideas and beliefs are based completely off of my personal opinion and I only post products on my blog that I stand behind.

You will  need: High Temperature Glue Gun * Glass Candle Holders * Candles * Craft Sticks * Kwik Stix from the Pencil Group

Tired of the endless mess of painting?  Fear not! Kwik Stix Solid Tempera Paint sticks take the mess out of painting while keeping all the fun!  Simply uncap, twist, and paint! Kwik Stix have a fast drying formula that allow them to dry in 90 seconds ( YES 90 SECONDS ) while still leaving a paint-like finish! You can also purchase these from your local Michaels stores or click here to purchase.

No cups, smocks, water or brushes required. Kwik Stix come in assorted vibrant colors with coverage that won’t crack.  Great on poster paper, cardboard, wood and canvas and much more!

Let’s just all take a moment and stare at this beautiful hot pink paint stick!  I literally opened it and thought about using it as lip stick!  You can’t lie- you thought the same thing as me!

Step one:  Paint one side of your popsicle stick with the color of your choice.

I wanted to have a fun theme and a more elegant theme so pull up your britches because it’s gonna be a fun ride with me today!

I was quite surprised to see this product in action and I literally mean this!  At first the paint appears wet but then within seconds it starts to dry.  It’s the most fascinating product that I have used in a while.

The colors literally come alive once you apply it, which had me thinking.  Why didn’t anyone ever make colored popsicle sticks?  Just a thought…

I asked myself what kind of picket fence would I would want around my house and if you know me then you know I would pull for ” Team Rainbow” but some days I wake up and feel like Cher and my inner sophisticated side comes out, which leaves us with a black picket fence.

The black popsicle sticks kinda remind me of the Nightmare before Christmas.  Personally I would keep these candle holders up all year long and decorate around them!  Can I get an AMEN! My imagination is screaming like a kid on Christmas morning thinking about all the things I can create with these paint sticks.

Clean your glass candle holders with cleaner before glueing the popsicles to them. The glass needs to be really clean otherwise the sticks won’t stick properly.

Once you are ready get your glue gun and start glueing them on one by one.  If small kids are doing this project, now is the time I would suggest having an adult help out. We don’t want to burn those little fingers.  Let your kids color the sticks- trust me they will love it!!!!

I made two passes with my glue gun to make sure there was enough glue on them.

Make sure to press firmly on each stick right after you place it on the candle holder.

I am really in love with these Tempera Paint sticks.  They are perfect for people on the go since they dry so quickly, this means no mess for the parents to clean up after!

Not sure what to do when you are busy cooking, cleaning and working? Throw some popsicle sticks on the table with these paint sticks and you won’t hear a word for hours.  Seriously how do I know this? it happened to me, I found myself so zoned into painting them that I didn’t realize I painted much more than I actually needed!

How beautiful are these picket fence candle holders!

Just close your eyes and imagine yourself snuggled up on the couch watching your favorite movie with these just glowing away, pure happiness.

Fill these containers up with candy and treat your guests to a warm surprise.

You are welcome, I just made life amazing for you!

The ideas are endless with these tempera sticks!  I can’t wait to try them on paper!

I feel like these belong on the set of a whimsical movie with lightning bugs flying around.  Did I mention you could put these on your desk with pencils and pens in them.  You can put so many different things in them just use your imagination.

Check out all of the Kwik Stix colors. You can purchase from The Pencil Grip

I hope you enjoyed this project as much as I did! See you in the next post, until then hugs from my computer to yours!

***This Red Christmas Tree is brought to you by Treetopia – All opinions are 100% mine***

I am so honored to be on the Treetopia Design CounciI!  Today I am showcasing the Tango Red Lipstick Christmas Tree from Treetopia! If you are a fan of COLOR then you just found fake tree heaven, seriously! I will simply call it my BOHO Red Christmas Tree, mmmmkk!

I’ve always wanted a bright and whimsical tree but never found one that looked good in person until Treetopia came into my life. I know most of you will not understand what I am about to tell you but I truly had issues picking out the tree I felt I needed this Christmas. It took me about 3 days, I know I have issues. People this is serious business!

Once I finally decided on a tree I realized I had bigger issues figuring out what theme I would go with for this stunning red tree until I went in my studio and saw a collage of DIY tissue paper flowers. It dawned on me that I needed to dig deep into my tissue paper collection (yes I have one) and start busting out flowers. From there on I completely saw “the” vision in my head. A flower tree enhanced with a few spray painted pine cones and a handful of vintage glass ornaments…..I DID say BOHO!

If you know anything about me then you know I am a fan of BRIGHT colors. I don’t have a preference I just love color. A few years ago we painted all the rooms in our house white and I just love it. For some reason it feels cleaner and it allows all of my gems to constantly POP!TISSUE PAPER FLOWERS

I love making paper flowers especially ones with black and white stripes bursting out of the centers! I will show you Friday how to make these flowers on the blog so make sure to come back! You don’t want to miss it.

If you are wondering if I went with a certain color theme for my flowers the answer is yes and no. I knew I wanted pink, green and orange….. the teal and white just made sense once I started. Trust me anything will look good on this tree!TREETOPIA TREE

Get your black light’s out cause are about to have a party with these Neon Tree Ornaments! Remember when I made this neon pumpkin! It was a HIT… So I figured I would make another NEON HIT with these cute neon ornaments.

Let me tell you before I start that this was an accidental project. I found these neon “things” one day when I was shopping in Michaels. I thought they were really cool and figured they would look good in a vase in my my studio. Then one day I looked at them and realized they looked like mini trees. BAM! That is how a project usually happens for me. Right brain for sho! Just thought I would share that with ya franssss!

Let’s get started.
neon tree ornamentsYou will need: Neon Fluffy Pipe Cleaners (I got these from Michaels) | Scissors | Mod Podge Collage Clay in White | Brush | Shiny Glitter | Pliers | Clear Ornaments
neon tree suppliesdiy christmas craftsAfter you spread out your collage clay inside of your ornament grab your pliers and carefully place your mini neon trees inside. They will sit right in the middle of that white gooey pile of collage clay and once it’s dry your trees are good to go.

I love collage clay! If you have never used it I suggest getting your hands dirty and grab some from your local craft store. This stuff here is literally like icing on top of the cake. You can spread this stuff out on any surface, drop in glitter, jewels, trinkets then VOILA! Let it sit for a hot minute (that means a few hours) and everything is secured in place.

Is your brain going nuts now? I can’t stop thinking about all the things I can do with this!orange tree ornamentsneon christmas decorations diy christmas ornamtents neon colorfu;l ornamentsI hope you enjoyed this tutorial from the bottom of my little ole heart! Huge glittery hugs from my computer screen all the way to YOU! xoxo, JADE

in other newsI will be in Anaheim CA for the Craft and Hobby Association conference in January! I am super exited and all I will tell you is I will be doing some make -n- takes at a certain book and an appearance! I can’t wait to see all of my virtual friends there so make sure to look for the glittery girl giving out glitter bomb wishes!! xoxo

Remember when I did demos for Plaid, check out this video (don’t mind my thick accent) HEHE

A few day’s ago I created some fabulous cupcake ornaments for the I Love to Create Blog. I knew they were cute as a button but I didn’t realize they would be such a big hit! I never make a ton of ornaments, I usually make enough for a photo. I knew these ornaments would make me smile during the holiday’s so I made lot’s of them! At least enough to fill up my cute gold tree.

If you want to see the FULL tutorial on how to make them check it out HERE!
