My love for Pink Flamingo Fashion is real -real as the sky is blue. This season these pretty pink birds have been popping up everywhere from skirts to bed sheets. I’m not sure if they are considered classy now since they are making their way into runways all over the world.  However I still have mad love for the good ole pink flamingo sporadically popping up in random yards next to water fountains that don’t actually work.
♥I can honestly say my love for this pink bird goes way back to 4th grade. We were in Destin Fl and my parents told me to pick out the design I wanted on my air brushed tank top. Yes I said it.. Air Brushed Shit!!! I can vividly remember standing there trying very hard to find the “right” design that would fit my personality. Then there was that moment of relief. Me and this bird on a shirt made eye contact and it was over after that.
♥Can you believe I still have that tank top hanging in my closet AND I still wear it. I am not sure I should be bragging about that! Stay tuned for follow up of me with shirt! ((HAHA))
♥I was so sad when I heard that Donald Featherstone passed away this June at the ripe age of 79. If you don’t know who this iconic person is he is ONLY the inventor of the iconic plastic pink lawn flamingo.
So Donald, this post is for YOU…

I know it would not be appropriate however I would probably try to wear these out in public. I can’t imagine someone wanting to lock these up in their closet! FYI: These are OUT OF STOCK but I am checking daily for that next shipment to be up!

Happy Painted Neon Socks Day! It’s been a hot minute since I made an appearance on the blog and I promise that was temporary! I have been so crazy busy lately and I am now back in the groove of things! It’s kinda funny how life can get so overwhelming, but in a good way! Check out this NEON DUCK TAPE bag I made it would go perfect with these socks!

I have this “SLIGHT” obsession with socks. Anytime I go into a store and I run across socks with prints I go nuts. I am not sure why because you will rarely find me wearing tennis shoes. I am a Birkenstock kinda gal so the sock things is kinda odd. Yes, I have a drawer full of neon, colorful, printed, patterned and anything else you can think of socks.  Which brings me to THIS post. I found this pack of socks at……Michaels! Yes, Michaels. I was kinda shocked at first but I can’t lie my insides kinda had a party inside when I saw them. I immediately grabbed one of each color as fast as I could. I am really proud of myself that I didn’t grab 3 of each color, seriously! I knew I wanted to jazz them up but I wasn’t sure how.

These pretty babies stayed in my studio for a hot minute… ok they got lost in my studio but when I finally ran across them my insides had a party all over again. That day I was into my Tulip Dimensional paint so the Universe answered my design question for me. I realized this was something anyone can do, especially kids. Let’s face it – kids love to create! Adults do too! Let’s get started so I can show you how to enhance your socks in 10 minutes!

neon socks

I could tell you this project is super hard but I would be lying. It’s actually super easy! I wanted to create very subtle geometric designs on my socks so I only did the top part of them…. They turned out fabulous and unique. Every time I wear them I get stopped…well not really BUT I have had a few people ask me where I got them. Remember, I am a Birkenstock chica so you won’t really find me wearing socks!

On a whole other note my better half signed me up for a tennis league. Yes. A tennis league. I am not sure why I am telling you this but I guess this will be the perfect opportunity to show off all of my snazzy socks. I am so glad she has more faith in me than my socks do, haha! I am however super stoked about all the tennis clothes I will be wearing. I guess if I don’t play that good the least I could do is look cute on the court right… Stay tuned I will keep you updated, or I will NEVER mention this again. #fml

NEON GREEN SOCKSI kinda fell in love with each pair but I absolutely love the pink with black and white stripes. Leave a comment in the comment section telling me which pair is YOUR favorite. DIY SOCKS

Since I love NEON so much I thought I would share with you this neon fashion roundup I did a while back. Yes I still love every single thing in the picture below even though this post was done a few years ago. Neon Statement

Today I we are making “Tea Stained Bleached Blue Jeans”!!!  I know these days all of the cool kids are wearing bleached jeans and shirts so I figured I would add my own little touch to some! You all know one of my favorite brands I work with is I Love to Create and they have this amazing new tie dye color called “Tea Stain”…. I know! Check how Martha Stewarts visit to Louisiana! ALSO! Now we don’t have to use up all of our tea bags to stain anything. I wonder if there is a ketchup dye because I seem to always drop that dagumm stuff on my clothes.

“Hip Hop Hooray, Hoooo” for the DIY Leather Cuff we are making today… Right about here you can insert a big old turquoise rock in my mouth. For some reason I am listening to sad, sad music on my computer but that song is BLASTING in my head. It’s probably because Marisa Pawelco’s die cuts are amaze-balls!

timthumb

I am all about buying leather cuffs because let’s face it it’s easier and most of us don’t have the patience to sit there and cut a perfect line on leather. Remember when I made this one! I think Marisa though of all the impatient people out there when she designed her line with Sizzix!

♥→Today I will show you how to use an awesome crafting tool and how to create the most unique leather cuff using it.

DIY Leather CuffIf you are like me then you are totally in love with this turquoise rock! Let’s get started.
you will need
Scraps of Leather \ Brush \ Adhesive Bling \ Scissors \ Yarn \ Fabric Paint (optional) \ Sizzix Sophisticate Machine Only \  Sizzix Originals Die: Chained \ Sizzix Originals Die : Fashion Cuff

Hey! If you want to purchase any of the items I used in this tutorial you can click on the links above and get them all from the SAME spot! They are affiliate links which means you are helping me buy more glitter and gold to make you happy crafts!

leather cuff suppliesThe Sophisticate machine comes with a few parts that you will have to assemble, but don’t worry it’s simple!sizzix marisa pawelko

1. Insert the handle into the side of machine
2. Use the screw driver that came with the machine to secure screw inside of the handle
3. Insert the rubber cap that covers the hole

VOILA! Pretty simple huh!sizziz die cut

On each side of your die cut machine you press where the sticker is and the sides will flip open. marisa pawelko sizzix machine

These are the two die cuts we will be using today.

P.S. Do not remove the foam and be careful because the metal inside the rubber is really sharp.
Said no one who sliced their finger trying to “dissect” the chains.
marisa pawelko die cuts

You have two cutting pads that come with the machine and you will need both every time you cut something.
marisa pawelko

To start you will lay out your leather scrap and place one of  the cutting pads on top. With a pair of fabric scissors cut as close around the pad as you can. This does not have to be “perfect”, we just don’t want too much hanging off the edges.
cutting leather

This is how you will layer everything before we start inserting it into the machine.
1st layer: Cutting Pad
2nd layer: Die Cut of choice
3rd layer: Leather
4th layer: Cutting pad.

It’s like a crafty sandwich. Speaking of sandwiches, I think I want one with chips smashed on it.
leather crafts

Keep it all together nice and neat while inserting into the machine. The great thing is it’s convenient for anyone regardless if you are right handed or left.

Shoots, you can even do it with your feet if you want. making leather cuffs

This is what it will look like when you run it completely through the machine. How amazing! It’s like a slice of heaven on a platter. Check out how precise it cuts and those dots…PERFECTION.easy leather cuff

I love how detailed all of her die cuts are. Check out the chains! I have so many ideas just looking at them.

I am also in love with the negative space in this leather. You can even use this as a stencil now.leather diy

I am using shiny lion brand yarn for my string. I love this tan color. If you don’t like the way I am attaching the yarn you can simply tie a knot or put a chain on the ends. It’s really so versatile. 7.jpg

Are you drooling yet?! I am.
