Happy Birthday Martha Stewart! Today’s post is dedicated to my best friend, Martha! I know what you are thinking. Jade, does she know she is your best friend and my answer is yes. When I texted her this morning she was so excited to hear from me. She asked me to send her some crawfish and a zydeco cd.

OK. FINE. She doesn’t know we are “best friends” but if we were I would treat her to the best birthday ever, the CAJUN way. I altered the photo below so she could visualize her birthday with me, however the portrait of her and I is legit. If you want to read my story of the first time I met her and watch my episode from the show click here! ENJOY!

Martha’s Cajun Birthday

martha stewart birthday

♥ I would surprise her with eggs for breakfast. I don’t do poached, sorry Martha. I would put a crap load of bacon grease in a magnalite pot and when it starts to boil I would throw her egg in it. This is known as heart attack eggs here. Let me also say these eggs will be from Wal-Mart not my back yard. I guess I would get “organic” for her. I would serve it with a bowl of hot cajun grits. I swear this delightful dish takes bacon, egg and grits to a whole new level. Calories. None.

♥After breakfast I would tell her to put some boots, not Hunter. I prefer white boots known here as Cajun Reebok’s. I would take her to watch the sun rise on a 4-wheeler alongside a mosquito infested swamp. What can I say, we have the prettiest sunrises in Louisiana but it comes at a good cost.

♥ After the sunrise tour I would take her to a mud pit and we would wrestle like pigs. Isn’t mud good for the skin? She would know this.

♥ It’s almost noon at this point so I would take her to a random house of her choice and knock on the door. Yes, the saying is true everyone in Louisiana welcomes you with open arms, unless they don’t have any then they would probably wrap their legs around you. Wondering why we are at a random person’s house? DUH, for lunch! Everyone has rice and gravy cooking on a Sunday. I can’t promise her what kind of meat will be in that gravy but hey, Martha is fond of “delicate” meat so she will be good. Worse case scenario, I will tell her it’s chicken.

♥ After lunch she might be sick. Why? Well because once you eat our rice and gravy you will know what I mean. (wink wink)

♥ When she feels better (after a nap on the random person’s sofa) I will call my long time friend Kristy from Swamp People. Yes, they film it right here in Louisiana. She will take us on a luxurious horse back ride to get to a dock. We would then get in a random boat and go find a gator. Remember everything belongs to everyone here, including the boats. At this point in the day Martha will be sweating profusely because it’s HOT here. The heat “might” make her feel ill since she practically ate greasy eggs for breakfast and random meat for lunch.

♥ At the end of the day I would take her to a random house here, preferably one with a swing in the back yard. You know what kind of swing I am talking about, one like this. I would tell her to plop herself in it and I would push her while watching the sunset. Again, she would be eaten alive by mosquitos but it will be totally worth it. Good news is I am immune to them. She would then BEG me not to leave and adopt me.

I have a feeling when she reads this she will have her assistant book her flight asap. I know this birthday sounds GREAT but this is a 17 star trip so no, I can’t treat everyone to this kind of day. I think we can all agree Martha deserves it! Martha if you are reading this and you need to spruce up your french, check out my cajun dictionary here. Check out this fun video where Martha makes an appearance.

Happy Halloween Jaderbugs! I was going to post a fun tutorial today, but instead I am taking you to Madame Tussauds in New York . Me and my dad went and had the best time ever. It was amazing seeing these life size people. I felt today was a fun day to share this with you since everyone will be dressing up and becoming who they really want to be!

If you are ever in New York you must make it to Madame Tussauds. It’s a great experience. The figures are so realistic you will have to touch them to make sure they are not real. Plus, it’s affordable and fun!

I hope everyone has a safe and memorable Halloween! See you in the next post. ending1

Quote of the Day:
“Our hearts are broken, but they are beating, and they are beating stronger than ever.” -Rudolph Giuliani, New York City mayor.

9-11
It’s 4:39 am in the morning.

I am not quite sure why I am up right now. Maybe because I went to bed last night thinking looking at a note I have in my phone. It’s a note that I have been carrying over from phone to phone for many years now. It says:

9:55 am South tower falls
10:28 am North tower falls

Everyone in the world has their own memory of that day. Their own feelings. I try not to think of the negative feelings I felt that day and how scary it was. Even thought I remember that morning down to the candle I had burning in my house. It’s too crisp. I had a printable ready to post this morning for you, (a cute one yeah) and about an hour ago when I woke up I felt the urge to post about this. So it am. It’s not a tutorial. Just a memory that I am offering to share with my awesome Jaderbugs.

Just like the memories I have of that horrible day I also have another AMAZING memory. It’s a day I could not have planned better. Dad and I. New York. Making memories. Twin Towers. BONDING. Yes. Me and my dad went to the memorial site. I will let the pictures do the talking. My dad was in the service a long time ago. I remember before we walked up to the spot where you enter the site, dad looked at me and patted me on my shoulder then hugged me. He told me that he never thought he would ever come to this spot. It was an emotional day, but a good one. I believe it healed us both a little. I can’t even explain the energy there. It’s so overwhelming.

This picture is at the actual memorial site. You can see they are slowly rebuilding, because that’s what we do. Nothing can ever break what is so strong.

Dad found out in New York that he loved to take pictures. I remember sitting on a bench right by the tower that is coming back up and teaching my dad what buttons to press. I think everyday he had my camera around his neck. Lemme tell you he is good! What you can’t see in the lawn picture is the ONE tree that survived. It has a metal ring around it so nobody can touch it. That was pretty cool to see. When we were leaving dad wanted to take my picture. He said the background was so pretty and he wanted to have a mental picture of me in that moment. (insert tear).  We stopped to get nuts and when we each ate one, they were hard as a rock. We just looked at each other and laughed. Oh, and they were around 13 bucks! haha

Later that day we went to the Empire state building. It was so different looking at New York from such a high place. Yep, dad had the camera the rest of the day. The city was in back of me and the building that has that big Y on top of it is the tower that is slowly going back up.

I hope you enjoyed coming to New York city with us! Make sure and come back tomorrow for a fun printable. You don’t want to miss it because it’s super cool!

See you in the next post Jaderbugs!

Seriously. HOW. COOL.ARE THESE.

With all of the excitement and  preparation for Blog Her 12 I forgot to post this baby! I am telling you my mind is going bonkers lately! We have this canister in our bathroom that I keep bath salts in. I am ALWAYS changing the scent of the salts so I wanted to put something on the canister that displayed what was in it. I didn’t want anything PERMANENT so after a little bit of thinking I though this would be cool.

Do you realize how much you can do with these labels! They are perfect for canisters in your kitchen, notebooks or gifts! How cute would it be if you would make these labels and put them on your christmas gifts you give out. You can write the name of person it is for! If you do something like that but your scared it would get wiped off, spray it with hairspray after. It will seal the chalk!

Let’s get started!

INGREDIENTS:

I got my address labels from Office Depot .  They are fun and bright! Check out what else I made using these labels here!

First thing you want to do is start painting your labels. I just painted the entire sheet. It is worth it in the end! After they dry, just peel the off and stick them where you want them! Yep, Jaderbugs… It’s that easy!!!

This is what my face looks like before it sees NEW YORK! I know, it doesn’t look that excited but it IS!

Guess who I will be seeing while I am there…..I will give you a few names so you can feel as excited as I am!!!!

1. Martha Stewart
2.  Katie Couric
3. Margaret Cho

I know, I am just as excited as YOU! I will be doing LIVE tweeting using hash tag #blogher12
Can’t wait to see my Graphic Fairy!

See ya in the city that doesn’t sleep [living my dreams everyday],

Himalayan What????

It’s SIMMER DOWN SUNDAY and I am not simmering. I am getting out an order for a wonderful family! Well technically I am not “working” and typing this. I wanted to share with you some pics I have that just make me smile! I know they are not craftyroos but they are funnyroos…Wait have you seen SPACE CHIMPS yet? SO FUNNY!!! I just had to tell you the story of my Himalayan Salt Lamps. First of all since Hawaii I have wanted one! Some of my dad’s friends had one and I fell in love! Since then I have been on a mission to get one! They are just REALLY expensive.. My cousin said she found one at T J Maxx weeks ago and I went strait there.. Outta luck. The lady said they only get them once a year and they go quick. I have been back EVERY day to check and nothing, nottah, NONE! I was so sad because my cousin said she paid around 13 bucks for them! WHAT! Until I found some yesterday! Three to be exact!  I got all of them. Well actually I gave one away because this awesome couple by me needed one. They didn’t know they needed it until I told them {teehee}. They were so grateful and happy. If you ever read this {awesome couple} I hope you are enjoying it like I am!

Himalayan Salt Crystal Lamp This is a little knowledge on these babies! Because you NEED ONE!
Hand-excavated from 250 million-year-old sea beds at the foothills of the Himalayan Mountains, Solay Himalayan Crystal Salt lamps cleanse the air naturally as houseplants do, while charging it with the healthy ions found in a saltwater breeze.
Computers and wireless devices create unhealthy electromagnetic fields (EMFs). Keeping a Crystal Salt lamp next to your computer helps counter EMF pollution organically, because these ancient crystals resonate at a frequency nearly identical to our bodies’. Seriously how awesome. They are really good for you! You can order them here unless your lucky and can snag one at the RIGHT moment at T.J. Maxx!

I just love this picture! It was at Madame Tussauds in New York. My dad thought it was SO funny! He said I looked like a real angry cab driver! Whatcha think? What you couldn’t see is half of the cab is off and placed against a wall! SO funny!
This picture is just amazing to me. AND I WANT THE WORLD TO SEE IT! So enjoy! The heart of New York! Times Square!

I hope everyone has a great Sunday! Remember to live your life and who CARES what anyone thinks! Remember HATERS don’t really hate you, they hate themselves because you are a reflection of what they wish to be…

Sending you lot’s of positive ion energy to conquer the day! Jaderbomb
