DIY Glittered Acorns are on the menu today. I found this little bag of acorns and miniature pinecones at Michaels and I had to pick up a few of them. Call it an addiction but anything “little” has to come home with me!

Now they were simply perfect with it’s natural colors in the bag but I wanted to add a little flare to them, so I added glitter! You can never go wrong with glitter.

If you love to decorate for Fall this is the perfect accent to your decor. You can sprinkle them around your pumpkins, put them in bowls or eat them. Either way they will work out fine for you! Let’s get started. DSC_0426 You will need: Bag of Pinecones and Acorns | Glitter | Decoupage  Brush
You can purchase all of the items used in this post by clicking on the links above. These are affiliate links so thanks for helping me purchase more acorns and glitter, yo!  DSC_0406 Step One: Lay out your goodies and stare at them for a minute. Worship them because they are simply that adorable.
DSC_0407 Step Two: Grab the glitter of your choice and shake them like a salt shaker. Preferably on top of your head. I am using Martha Stewart glitter in Florentine Gold & Wintermint.  DSC_0410 Step Three: Get your bottle of decoupage and roll it on a flat surface to wake it up. We need to make sure everything is mixed together well inside of the container.  DSC_0411 Step Four: Apply a small amount of decoupage on your brush and add it to your acorns and pinecones. While wet sprinkle a little glitter over the glue. Hint: I like to place a sheet of paper under my items to catch the glitter, then I can pour it back into the bottle.

Just like saving whales, we need to save the glitter.  DSC_0416 DSC_0420
DSC_0427 DSC_0428 I love the way they came out. Did I mention this is the perfect craft to have your kids do? Seriously it takes about 10 minutes to do them and it dries really fast. I think I will make rainbow ones next. What cha think! See ya in the next post Jaderbugs!

I don’t know about you but if you add glitter to anything you will put an instant smile on my face. Today we will be making Glitter Dishes!

I started playing around with paper plates a few weeks ago creating a few easy ways to “dress” them up. I think I was successful with it, what do you think?! I mean, I truthfully hate washing dishes and putting them up so why not serve anyone out of fancy paper plates. It’s not like I am having Christmas at my house but if I did I would lay all these babies out!

Check out these I made with ribbon and these with lace!

I say that is a win win situation! Let’s get started.

Decorative Paper Plates Supplies

I love this brand of paper plates. However you can use any type or brand for this project.
Recycled Paper Plates Decorative Paper Plates and Bowls To start you will grab your hole puncher and punch holes around the edges of your paper plate or bowl.  How to Punch PAPER PLATES This is what it should look like. You can put the holes close together or far apart.  PUNCHED PAPER PLATES Cut a few thin strips of fabric. They have to be small enough to go through the holes.  HOW TO CUT FABRIC Decorative Paper Plates with fabric Start putting the ribbon through the holes. You can go through the holes from the top or the bottom , either way works.  Decorative Paper Plates using fabric recycle I like to finish my edges with a bow. It just adds a nice touch to it. diy decor paper plates Decorative Paper Plates with fabric decor How simply cute is this project! The best part is when your guests are done eating you can just throw everything away.

How will you decorate your bowls and plates?

I had so much fun creating this project in my head. See I had these mini blue jeans from my son when he was LIL. I didn’t want to throw them away or stuff them into a box  so I decided to let my creative brain decide for me. I thought they best way to incorporate them into my daily life was to make them into a fashionable blue jean purse.

Let’s get started. I’m just warning you, this craft is super easy so put your crafty seat belt on.

I know, I know. You are prolly thinking “Hey Jaderbomb, where is your “ingredient” list”. If you don’t know what that means it’s the picture of things you will need to make this project. I will tell you why I don’t have one. Well, because I didn’t plan on posting this. I think I THOUGHT it wasn’t going to come out like it did in my head. I guess I fooled myself.

You will need:
*blue jeans
(whatever size you want)
Obviously the bigger the jeans, the bigger the purse
*an old purse strap
*snaps
*gold chain
*needles
*thread
**sewing machine works the best**

The first thing you will do is cut the pants where you want the bottom of the purse to end. When you are done cutting pin them like I did below. This will secure the material for you.

Remember, the longer you cut the deeper the inside of the purse. I am loving this project so much I think I will make a few HOBO bags (with new jeans of course cause we don’t want any honey boo boo smells) and sell them on my ETSY and STORE ENVY shop. What cha think! I think it will save you the time and it’s great Christmas gifts!

Just a little closer look at how I put the pin through the blue jeans.

Five years ago I would of totally hand sewed this, or found someone to do it for me…
Can you believe Ashy just taught me to sew last year! I mean let’s just say this. I always knew how to do basic things but now I can sew by myself like a big girl! haha

You want to sew the bottom of the blue jeans slowly. I made two passes just to make sure it was secure. Make sure if you are using a sewing machine for the first time that you take the pins out before you sew in that spot.  If you look at the picture below I wait until I am ABOUT to sew the pin until I take it out of my material.

When you are done with sewing you might need to take a lil break. You just did some major sewing. I am gonna take a break right now.

OK! I’m back!

Now is the time to embellish your new purse. I started by passing a piece of gold chain through the belt loops.

If you don’t like chains, you can actually put a real belt (sheesh that would of been cute, why didn’t I think of that), some fabric or nothing at all.

I have a ton of purses that have removable straps so I just stole one off of a purse and clipped it onto the belt loops. I am really loving the way the leather and blue jean look together.

In the picture below you will see those two gold snaps that I added. I found when I put things in the purse it kinda opened more  and I didn’t like that. I don’t want my goodies falling out now!
I used some SNAP FASTENERS for this. You can buy these at any craft store. I bought mine from Michaels Art’s and Crafts.

Another close up. This is what the snap looks like from the back. If you are not a fan of GOLD you can get SILVER snap fasteners also.

I hope you enjoyed this craft! It was so much fun. You could tie dye your purse, put tons of beads on it, make a strap with fabric, stencil it and so much more! I wanted a clean one, this time.

Stay tuned because I will be putting some in my Etsy shop for you to purchase! Can’t wait to see you in the next post!

Today we will be making paper bag flags out of….. paper bags! I love finding things that can be re-purposed into something completely opposite of what it really is! The good thing about this tutorial is it’s easy and you can get as creative as you want by decorating them.

Let’s get started!

paperbagflags

Ingredients:

*Scissors
*Brown Paper Bag
*Bakers Twine
*Rubber Stamps
*Black Paint
*Mini Clothespins

The first thing you will need to do is cut triangles out of the brown paper bag. (woop woop, this bag was fuh-ree)

Tadahh! This is what mini triangles look like next to each other. I always get brown paper bags instead of plastic so you can imagine how many brown paper bags I own…

I like to use a paint brush on my rubber stamp because it has a different texture to it. Plus, it’s a little darker. Make sure you ONLY paint on the letter. You could also Mod Podge a smaller triangle in the middle using scrapbook paper. I buy my scrapbook paper here.

I think I am the only person that get’s {super duper} excited when I see bakers twine. Do you? What is your favorite color?

You can stamp whatever you want on your mini triangles. You can also cut them small or LARGE. It just depends on the space you are putting them in. When you are done with everything I like to lay everything out like this.

Last thing is to grab your mini clothespins {that you bought from my shop} and pin the twine to the mini triangle.

There you have it, Paper Bag Flags!

See how cute they look once you put them up. You can be completely creative with this and cut out fabric or scrapbook paper to do the same thing. This is a a great “COUNTDOWN” for kids. You could do this for the whole month of December and they could take down each number a day! How cute!

Huge Glittery Hugs, Jade

(p.s. before you read this. I wrote it last night, but fell asleep typing)

Happy hump day Jaderbugs. I always feel weird saying that but I also can’t help it. Right?!
This post is gonna be sorta short and sweet (like candy) because I had a full day and I am just getting to my computer! I sorta love day’s like this. You know, those day’s where ALOT get’s done.

Lately I have been “slowing” down a little bit. I can’t lie to you. That is very hard for a person like me as I am sure it is for many of you too! I like to go, go, go. You know how that is right? We tell ourselves there is “never” enough time in the day. What we are doing is telling the UNIVERSE there isn’t enough time and they are giving us exactly that. As a blogger it is sometimes hard to pry my fingers away from ONE of our computers. It’s my job. I have been putting my phone down after 6 pm until EVERYONE is asleep in the house. Then I let my fingers get back to work. Try it! It feels good!

I had so much fun with this mirror. A while back it was white and I painted it this color to spruce it up. I felt it needed just a little bit more! All I did was use paint, brushes, and sponge stamps. You can do whatever colors you like because after all, it’s gonna be your creation…

Make sure and send me any pictures you have of your updated WHATEVER!! (hehe)
You never know, I just might feature you on the Jaderbomb blog.

Happy Saturday Jaderbugs! I slept SOOOO good and my coffee is SOOOO good right now! I have a few new things lined up to post  but none are 100% complete! So I thought this would be the best time to post a few crafts from last summer. A little old school for ya this morning!

This is NOT from last summer but I want you to get it if you have not yet! It’s the greatest checkoff list ever. Put this up on your fridge and watch in excitement as your little kids get to check off things your family does together! You could even have a 100 day’s of Summer journal! Write a little bit about each thing you check off!

Have some old furniture lying around? Does it look old and frumpy? I’ve got the solution! Get over to your local craft store, or Walmart and get some .99 bottles of acrylic paint! Watch the magic happen!

Remember the movie UP? I do! It is prolly my favorite! What a fun way to brighten up your day! Paint your nails like balloons. Every time you look down you will think of the movie and it will put a smile on your face!

If you are like me then you might have TON’S of paint cans laying around. No worries! Check out what I created!

Want to reuse your old Era or Gain bottle? Check out this fun craft that I made!

I hope you enjoyed me bringing back a few crafts I did a WHOLE year ago! Happy Weekend Jaderbugs!

So. I have sorta been a little sick the past few days and I have been unable to make a craft from start to finish without wanting to rip my hair out. You know how that is when your sick. Everything. is.  After a little thinking I thought it would be a great time to just feature something that I have in my house.  A post that doesn’t require ANY work! I like that!

I guess I will tell you a short story about “how” this happend. One of my good friends came over the other day while we were cleaning and “re-arranging” things. There was this ONE little spot in the house that needed SOMETHING. Can you believe I was stumped. Yeah, I know. I have brain fart days too! Now my friend is a “coach” and doesn’t really care about “arrangement” of things or decorating. I mean, she might care a litte but it’s not like her brain thinks of these things every day. Just wanted to throw that out because SHE IS THE ONE WHO SAID, “J, I think this would look cute right here with something on top of it”.

I just looked at her. Gave her the STANK eye and listened. I swear, I couldn’t believe it. Who knew!

So that is the story how this happened. Now, after she gave that advice she shot out and went who knows where outside! I was left to decorate the top, haha.

BTW: Have you seen my “HOW TO CUT GLASS” tutorial? Check it out here!

I also did a fun way to dispense matches HERE!

I think this is the cutest thing ever!

Do you remember my post I did the other day on my PHOTO ROCKS? Click HERE to see it! It is really the best thing to add that whimsical touch. Plus if you are like me, it’s an easy way remember something if you collect rocks!

INGREDIENTS:

If you don’t have a camp stool you can use anything with legs and add a tray to the top! Be creative! Use what you have!

You can add whatever makes you smile to this tray. This is just what I added.

Yes, I am a Louisiana girl. I like furs.

I get my rabbit furs from Hobby Lobby. They have a ton of them by the leather section. They are only like 15 bucks! Get your 40$ off coupon and grab a couple! (unless you don’t like it then get some floweres)

Here is a little closeup for all my Jaderbugs! This is practical too!

Moral of the story. Next time you see a coach quickly quiz them with a decorating question.
You might learn a thing or two from them!

Have a great day full of “jaderbugging”….

I know we all love making our favorite spaces warm and cozy! Sometimes we look for the most expensive things to make this happen. Today I am going to show you how a simple “vintage” window frame can do the job for you.

If you don’t have any window frames like this check out antique stores of just ask some of your friends. You would be surprised how many people have the suckers stashed away!

INGREDIENTS:

You can use any color hooks that you want, try to use the same color as the ceiling. If you don’t want to use twine you can use fishing string or ANY string you think will work! Chains work great too!

Grab someone you know and make them pose with it first! HAHA

Screw two screws at the top of the window frame on each end then screw the next two into the ceiling. If you measure the distance from the screws on the window frame this should help you determine the width on the ceiling!

That’s it people! It’s that simple! It really dresses up a spot quickly!

Sending you happy thoughts today!

“Mirror Mirror on the Wall, Who Is the Fairest of Them All?”

Hey Jaderbugs! I could not wait to post this craft! I have NOT seen the new movie yet but I absolutely know all about the “original” one! If you wanna check out the website for this AMAZING movie that I can’t wait to see, click HERE. Did I mention that Florence sings in the movie. YEP. The video is on the website and it’s a MUST see!

Let’s start crafting!

How perfect is this! You can see so many different reflections in all of the itty bitty mirrors every time you look at them. It’s like a party in your eyeballs! I have to say I have been using using “mirror’s” for a long time and if you follow me then you know this! There is just a part of me that get’s weak when it comes to:
lamps
christmas lights
mirrors
&
gel pens (preferably Pilot G-2)

It’s kind of fun to pretend your making a “prop” for a big ole movie when your really not. Your just making it for YOUR movie, the movie of your life. (hahaha)

Ingredients:

You will also need a old chandelier and spray paint.

We bought this at a garage sell prolly 2 years ago. It’s been sitting in our shed just screaming to get redone!

We used a pretty purple color for our best friend Taunt C. She just passed away and that was her favorite color. Plus every time we look at it, it will remind us of her!

I bought those little packs of mirrors at Michael’s Art’s and Crafts. They are pretty cheap, maybe 1.50 for a pack but you get about 15 mirrors in the pack. You can get tons of different size circles and squares. Keep in mind every chandelier will look different than the one I am using.I thought putting some on the bottom base would add a nice touch to it! I used E-6000.  You can use it on
Glass / Rhinestone
Clay Pottery / Rocks / Sea Shells
Beads / Fabric
Ceramic / Wood
Glass / Metal

It’s really something you should ALWAYS keep around.

Remember my tutorial on “strings of mirror’s“? If not check it out. I made these babies the same way  I made those. You just put glue on one circle, put clear string over it and place another circle on top of that. Then let it dry. You can decide how many circles or squares you want to use depending on the size of your chandelier.

Once you get all of your little strings of mirrors done, just start putting them all over! You can hang them at different lengths. I like to stay “consistent” so it looks even.

I hope you enjoy this fun tutorial and leave in the comment section what you think of the movie if you saw it! Could you totally see this in your house! I put it outside because when the sun hits the mirror’s, it makes millions of amazing, fun reflections EVERYWHERE! It’s like stars in the daytime shining!

I wanted to share with you my exact spot I wrote this blog post! Right under my
Mirror Chandelier!

Wanna see how I hung this HUGE window? Make sure and come back tomorrow to check it out! See you in the next post!
