Today it will be all about Adult Coloring Books! Did you know that Michaels offers free classes in their stores? You can try out a new craft skill for just the cost of supplies.
- Michaels has everything you need to craft the perfect handmade gift that will make Mom’s day.
This month’s challenge was a little different from my past challenge’s! We were asked by Michaels to sign up for one of the classes that’s offered in the store! Did you even KNOW that they had classes offered in the store!!! It’s AMAZING! I wanted to do something a little different than what I normally do so I chose to go to the “Coloring Time” class. Now I know this isn’t the “typical” class where you create an amazing wreath however I never got into this whole adult coloring book fad and I wanted to try it out and get some feed back from other’s on why they enjoy it and how it benefits their lives!
These classes are great because if can force a person to learn a new craft, hobby or technique that they otherwise might be hesitant to take up. When I got to my Michaels store the instructor did suggest that if we wanted to purchase our own coloring book we could so and as soon as I saw this Chalkboard coloring book I knew it was meant for me!
Once we got in the class they gave us sheets that we could use if you didn’t want to purchase a personal coloring book. I kept them just to show you.
These were the instructions that were given to us when we got to the class. I also kept this as well. I thought it was very helpful. If you do any of the classes offered at Michaels they give you a detailed sheet like this telling you what you need to purchase before the class. You can also sign up online!
Materials needed for this product were:
*Chalkboard Coloring Book
*Color Pencils
*Pencil Sharpener 
I just love how vibrant all of these colors are. I am usually not a fan of colored pencils but these really worked nice while coloring in the small details. 
Not to mention the pencil sharpener helps! 
Another great way to explore your creativity is by trying out a craft kit. Michaels has everything from sewing kits to art kits and everything in between.
I am so happy with the way these turned out. What I love the most is you can literally take it right out of the book and just frame it for your house. You can give it as a gift framed up as well!!!
Look how beautiful it looks once you start coloring the white spaces. A lot of the ladies in the class said to me that they enjoy getting out of the house and coming to Michaels for these coloring classes because it’s a good way for them to meet people and it actually settles their minds. It takes them into another land that is relaxing to them. I thought that was neat since I usually do something really crazy like move everything in my house around to relax me. I know, fist bump… I’m a soldier. 
It was nice to see how easily the colored pencils blended with the other colors. It’s very hard to tell how great the colors look in this picture but just TRUST me they look better in person!

Summer is always an exciting time of year especially when you can express your personality with your backpack. Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye can make this happen in a matter of minutes. I always have a hard time choosing the colors I want to use so in today’s post we will use the 3 primary colors. You can never go wrong with these colors because you can create so many shades with them.
I love how each bottle’s spray top matches the color that is inside. This makes it easy when storing.
The first thing you will do is fill the bottle with water all the way to the black line. Make sure to use warm water when filling your bottle. 
I am leaving my bag dry when applying the spray dye. Some instructions will tell you to wet your fabric before applying dye but for this project we are going to leave it dry. Start from the bottom and use the darkest color and gradually go up with red in the middle then yellow along the top.
After you apply these three colors let it sit for about 2 minutes.
Let it sit over night to dry and this is what it will look like! Notice I even dyed the string straps! I always hand wash and let hang dry when I am completely done.

The only bad thing about posting this on here is my mom might actually see her Mother’s Day gift… hahaha! Sorry mom if you are reading this! 
Materials for this project:
Make sure when you open your clay that it is cold and soft. Sometimes people open the containers in the store the clay gets hard. I seriously love this clay because you can make so much with it and the next day it’s ready to use!
The first thing you will do is get a chunk of soft clay and slowly mold it into a little bowl. You can press the edges to make them thin and curve the edges to make it look like delicate flower petals. 
When you are done forming your bowls let them sit out over night to dry. I like to leave mine out for 48 hours so make sure they are really hard. 
Once they are dry these babies are ready to be painted! Have fun with your colors! I made them a little plain today because these are for my mom however I might keep a few and spice them up. You know me, I love my color! NO, I am not at ALL saying my mom is PLAIN… She is just not as BOLD as me….♥
When your paint is completely dry you will brush Mod Podge onto the bottom of your bowl then sprinkle with glitter flakes. Press down gently with finger and blow excess glitter out. Coat the top of glitter with another layer of Mod Podge to secure the glitter! Let these suckers dry then you are done! 
I am simply delighted with how they came out. Simple, modern and handmade. Let me also mention, made with ton’s of love! 
You can make these as small or large as you want! You can even make one to fit your cell phone! HAHA
