Quote of the day:
Everything’s intentional. It’s just filling in the dots.

Did you know polka dot’s are coming back like they never left? Just thought I would share that with ya!

Do you ever walk in the stores just staring at all of the UH mazing frames for sale. Then you look at the price and realize they are kidding. There is NO way I will spend 30 bucks on a frame when I can enjoy making one on my own. Well I lied, if it’s a really fancy one from an estate sell or antique shop then yes… I just sat in my office a minute ago and realized how close Valentines Day is. Well I know it’s not right around the corner but WHOA where did Christmas go? I kinda love Valentines day because I get to shower my honey’s with ton’s of yummy things!
Did I mention that I love pink?

This tutorial is so much fun. You can design your frame any way you want which is so nice! It’s perfect for Valentines day also. It looks like little pearls when you finish it with a white or off white spray paint. Wanna see how I did it? Let’s check it out!

Puffy Paint Picture Frame

I think all of those jewels on the ground would look fab on a frame, what ya think?

*Puffy Paint
( it does not matter what color you use because we will spray paint over it)
*Plain Wooden Frame
Spray Paint I used Ivory

BTW: you can click on any of the links above to order all the items in one spot.

To start you will get grab a bottle of puffy paint, grab your hazmat suit and your ray bans.. JUST KIDDING!

You won’t need a suit but it’s gonna be so cool you might need some shades when you are done! If you use a smalle frame like I did you will only need one bottle. I actually had a little left over. Start by making dots all over your frame. When you are done let it dry completely.

Before you spray paint it take the back and mirror out of the frame then you ready to ROLLLL!

Dont’ they look like little pearls? Pearls always remind me of Valentines day. Just think if you paint them pink or red. What is your favorite way to decorate for Valentines Day? I’d love to know, you can go to the bottom and share in the comment section. I love comments!

In other news:
*I will be doing a giveaway next week
*I will be posting NEW Mardi Gras tutorials
*I will start doing a VIDEO tutorial every week starting NEXT week so stay tuned for these fun little suckers!

See you in the next post Jaderbugs!

Quote of the Day:
“I like the blood screaming through my veins. I don’t like it just pumping politely.” – Corin Fields

Well I am so excited to share some pics I shared on Instagram this week! If you are not following me just look me up: my user name is JADERBOMB.
How was your weekend? Is anyone else having trouble getting back into the swing of things with the kids being off for so long, I know I am!

(click on picture to enlarge it)

1.  I love this picture because it never fails. I always find glitter or confetti either in my hair or on the floor. I took some photos this week and there was confetti involved! Hour’s later I found a few hidden in the nest.

2. Our water machine. I had to take this picture because I completely gave up my favorite thing in the world which is Dr. Pepper! Wuhhh! I gave it up 100%. I feel so much better which I already knew I would but Dr. Pepper is my weakness. Working from home can be hard at times because you are in your comfort zone, it’s easy to just grab a Dr and sit at your computer for hours. So this water jug was put in Friday at 12pm, this picture was taken Friday at 8pm. I drank that much water in ONE day! Our water man came this morning and I usually get one jug but I got 3 today. Eeekk, he just looked at me and I laughed. I know all that sugar is bad for me and I don’t want to do that to my body anymore. Did you give up anything for the New Year that you miss SO much already? Let me know in the comment section below, I would love to know.

3. Ceaux Ceaux laughing at me when I told her I am not drinking Dr.P anymore. No, just joking she just smiles when I put the camera in her grill. What? You don’t know Ceaux Ceaux (co-co).. Check out her blog HERE and her Facebook HERE.

4.  Our new piece of technology in the house. Jaderbugs, you have to get one. It is so amazing! You can monitor it from your phone which means if you are cold in bed you can turn the heat up FROM BED. Lazy, yes. Smart, yes. Check it out HERE.

5.  The other morning I was sitting in my car about to get out when all of a sudden something flew up and hit me on my neck. I immediately looked like I was
a: dancing to some hip hop song on the radio
b: dancing to some cray cray song in my head
c: freaking out because I felt something fly on me
When I realized it was a lady bug I instantly smiled and made sure I didn’t kill the lil sucker. I mean you don’t just fly on me and expect my instant dance moves to not to splatter you. Not smart lady bug, not smart. Good news is she lived and made it on my instagram.

6.  We collect vintage signs. I love these two from Pop Stew. He used to work at a gas station and these were the signs they put up at the tanks. Cool ey!

7.  Remember earlier when I said I don’t drink Dr. P anymore? Well I forgot to tell you I gave up eating babies too. Here is my yummy egg whites that I ate while drinking WATER.

8.  Me and Ceaux on our bike ride through our lovely city. It is so much fun to ride bikes when it’s FREEZING outside, right! (SMH)

9.  Yep, I rode around just like this. I kept wondering why everyone was staring at me but I guess they thought I looked dangerous. Ya know, me and my dog with a decorative leash. Rarwwwww

10.  Sorry Bill. This is my cute Dr. Not Dr. Pepper tho! He prolly wouldn’t like if I drank him. He texted me and said “guh you better not post those pics on your site”. I said OK. Bill if you are reading this, it’s because I love ya! Ladies, he is single and can crack a back like nobody in this world.

11. Oh, Co. Yeah any room we go in the door get’s shut. Somehow this extraordinary nose can open every single door. The thing is, she pops her nose in just like this and does not make a noise. She will stay like this for 15 minutes strait. Half of the time you think you are alone, but you are not. I think she holds her breath too, haha!

12. My friend Sue introduced me to water color crayons. I know I thought the same thing. How could I be an Artist for so long and not know these suckers exist. I love water color and now I love water color crayons. Check them out HERE.

13. A preview of a recipe that will be on the blog this week! It’s a yummy one!

14. Yep, our tree trimmings are up in flames. Lil one loves to burn leaves because they make a cool crackling sound.

15. Is it weird that I wish I still had this awesome pleated skirt. I think it’s so cute. #tbt

16. My little man that greets me every time I wash dishes. I usually put soap on here but I had to change it up a little.

17.  I love posting quotes on here and my facebook. I think you can tell. Quotes just make me happy. They give me inspiration daily.  I know they are words but I promise if you put quotes up everywhere will make you feel great.

18.  I am happy to end my instagram recap with this one. It’s free and easy to do. Sometimes you don’t realize what a smile can do to a person. You never know what is going on in a person’s life or that day. Your smile could make them feel noticed and all mushy inside. I usually smile at myself when I pass in front of a mirror. Who said smiling at myself won’t make me feel better. Trust me it works.

Well Jaderbug’s I hope you enjoyed seeing my week through the eyes of Instagram. Stay tuned this week I have some NEW VALENTINE crafts going up and they are cuh-yute.
See ya in the next post,

Quote of the day:
“Bigger than life is not difficult for me.  I AM bigger than life.”-Rita Moreno

Well that quote fit me quite perfectly I tell ya! If you ever wonder where I get my quotes from or how I choose them I will tell ya. I have always kept a calendar on my desk where you can tear a page off every day and each day has something new on it. I get them from Barnes and Noble. They usually have a HUGE table to choose from and they range from puzzles, cat’s, dogs, inspirational, sports, funny and anything else you can think of.

Last year Ashy bought me a really great inspirational one.  However this year, I got a really funny one. It’s sorta inspirational but it’s about inspirational WOMEN. I will post a link below to show you the calendar I got because it’s still early in the year and you need this one. Super funny!

Today’s craft is very inspirational. Why you ask? Well because when you water color it relaxes you in a way that you won’t understand unless you do it. I should say enjoying your time doing it will relax you, not if you hurry. It’s magical when you mix two colors together and they blend so easily. For me crafting isn’t just a job, it truly grounds me and gives me a place on this earth.

*Water Color Paint

If you click on the ingredient links you can purchase these items all in one place.

The first thing you will do is get strips of fabric ( use a light color so the water color’s show) and start painting whatever you like on it. I wanted to do some geometric shapes and patterns on mine. I will suggest one thing. When it comes to water color the cheaper ones you buy will not have a lot of color pigment in them. I suggest buying the more expensive one because it will be worth it. Don’t worry even the expensive ones are not that expensive.
FYI: you could also buy the ones with 7 colors and mix your own shades!

Once you paint on your fabric let them dry over night. When dry cut out triangles. I didn’t measure mine because I wanted them to be different sizes.

Once you are done grab your glue gun and some string or twine. Add a little glue to the top of the flag (the back side of your flag) and just place your twine on top of the glue. That’s it!

I just love the way they came out. I figured I would start early with my Valentines decor and I think this is beautiful.

I hope you enjoyed this post and you can look forward to new VALENTINE’S day crafts!

Huge hugs, see ya in the next post!

Sharing with Southern Hospitality

Happy Tuesday Jaderbugs! I am so excited to finally share with you how I make Washi tape. Washi tape is pretty popular these days but what’s not popular is how much they cost. Sometimes you can snag them for a good deal but most of the time they are a little over priced. Now let me warn you that the washi tape I make does not tear like the “paper” washi tape. Sometimes that bugs me BUT most of the time I remember how much money I saved and that I could make tape with any print I like then I feel much better.  Don’t ya see, it’s like personalizing something…In a way. I also made a you tube video while I made the tape. I hope it makes you feel all warm and cozy inside. Hehe

Below is a picture of the ones I just made. If you are wondering what the gold paper is click HERE to find out.

*Wax Paper
*Rotary Cutter
*Cutting Mat
*Double stick tape
*Wrapping Paper
*Flat Ruler
(for a cutting mat)
or use something with a flat surface to cut
(use this if you don’t have a rotary cutter)

First thing you will do is lay a sheet of wax paper down.

Put a strip of double stick tape on it.

I usually put a alot.

Tear some wrapping paper and lay it right on top of the tape. Now your tape is stuck to the wax paper on one side and the wrapping paper on the other.

Once you are sure your tape is secure on the paper flip everything over.

It’s hard to see in the paper but in person you can now see where your strips of tape are. Get your ruler out and line it up on one side of the tape.

Grab your rotary cutter. If you don’t have a rotary cutter or flat ruler you can just hand cut the strips of tape with scissors. I just think it goes faster with the rotary cutter which is why I use it.

Now you are ready to start cut cut cutttinggggg (I was just singing that btw).
Cut one side of the tape on the mat.

Then move to the other side of the tape. When you are finishing cutting you will notice it will be one long strip of paper. Trim the edges where there is NO tape and VOILA!

You can now start wrapping all of your tape into a roll like I did below. I cut a little strip of cardboard to wrap around the entire roll. This hold it all in place.

How precious are these babies. I can’t wait to use these on all of my Christmas presents. When you are ready to use them cut a piece, pull the wax paper off and stick it where you want. It’s that easy!!!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial!

Don’t forget to make it a DIY kinda day
See ya in the next post

Quote of the day:
Not fare well, But fare forward, voyagers -T.S. Eliot

Hello to all my Jaderbugs out there. It’s a wonderful hump day and I have a wonderful FREE printable for you. The other day I found some fun things on ETSY that had an olive on it and the words “Olive You”. It’s really all over if you look. Sometimes you may find yourself looking at something and all of the sudden your own cray cray brain starts going bonkers. Oh, your’s doesn’t do that?
After looking around online I had to leave to run errands, but that dang “Olive You” would not get out of my head. Finally my brain thought of a similar but new saying. So, I googled it, searched etsy, searched pinterest and nothing. I had to make make sure it wasn’t coming to me because of something I previously saw. Can you believe I found NOTHING. That’s right.  Stay tuned for some fun things coming with this saying on them! That’s all I will say…

So, I made you this fun FREE printable! It’s really cute. The way it’s centered in the page allows you to cut it to a 5×7 after you print it. What are some things you can use this for? Well, you can give it to someone you love, print it on photo paper and give to someone who is getting married, you could put it up for Valentines day, mail it to someone, use it in your scrapbook or you can put it up in your house because it just makes you smile.

Hope you enjoyed it! See you in the next post

P.S. There will be A LOT of glitter on the blog Friday, so come back!

Happy I can’t believe it’s almost Halloween/Labor day. I know, they don’t really go together too much but I found it pretty ironic that I am working on Halloween printable’s on Labor day. I guess I am defining “labor” in a good way, right! I also can’t wait to show you the craft that I did today. It is the most precious thing ever and it will be up tomorrow on The Graphics Fairy-Crafts website. I am not sure if I mentioned to you that I am now a contributing editor for her site. I am super excited because maybe I will become a mini fairy. I will always let you know when to head over her way to see my post. Don’t you worry, I will always post a final result picture on my blog the day of or the day before it goes live on her site!

I started working on some fun Halloween printable’s today and I think you will love them.

What I love most about them is how versatile they are. You can do so much with them. I left the black circle frame empty so you can personalize it any way you choose.  If you don’t have photoshop I suggest using a program like PicMonkey that is free for anyone to use.

I like to put initials in the center, print it out and glue on the top of a journal. It’s an easy way to dress up a boring notebook.
+hint: my post tomorrow is all about dressing up notebooks, and you don’t want to miss it.

See you in the next post!

So, I am not sure if I should say “good night” or “good morning” to ya. It’s 1 in the morning and I am up wide the scrap awake. Really Jade, scrap?  I think it might have a little to do with the fact that I went to bed around 8:30 last night. Well who can we thank for that?

My good friend Ricky Mic  earache…  Sometimes we don’t agree on the timing of this crap happening but it won last night. So I figured I would finish this amazing post for ya since Ricky Mic Earache didn’t let me yesterday.

Quote of the day: “One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential.” -Maya Angelou

Jumbo Straws
Glass cup (you can use any glass cup you have)
Glass beads (you can get these at Wal-Mart also)
Metallic Spray Paint
Glue Gun

Make sure to check your home supply before buying any of these materials. You might just have most of them already!

Lay out your straws.

Start spraying them with the Metallic Spray. You might notice once you start spraying the air from the can will push some of the straws around. You can even glue the straws onto the glass and then spray paint. Again, just whatever you feel most comfortable doing!

This is what they will look like once you spray them.

I found it easiest to put a line of hot glue down on the glass first.

Then quickly place your straw on top of the hot glue. Be careful not to touch the glue because this could burn you.

It’s starting to come together!

When you are done with all of the straws get your ribbon and place it on top of the straws.

Put hot glue down on one end of the ribbon.

Quickly wrap the ribbon to the other side sticks to the glue. You want to make sure your ribbon is pretty tight.

Can you believe how simple this is so far?

I had some fun ribbon laying around so I decided to embellished with it. You can use anything you personally like to “decorate” the outside with.Put different color ribbon around it, tulle or anything FUN! I glued the glass beads around my ribbon to dress it up a little. Once you finish decorating, voila!

It’s really that simple. I like crafts like this because it’s an easy way to get creative and decorate any space really quick. Keep in mind if you don’t have Metallic sprays, you can spray the straws ANY color!

Here is a picture of the printable I made last week. I told you it’s cute in a frame. If you want it click HERE.

I hope you had fun in Jaderbomb land today! If you have a minute say a prayer for the Gulf Coast. We are about to get slammed by Hurricane Isaac.

See ya in the next post!

Happy Monday! Today will be all about Beautiful Vintage Bottles! I hope you had a great weekend! Sometimes the weekends go by so quickly, don’t they? Hopefully you have ton’s of glass bottles hanging around because this craft is addicting. There is something about transforming a plain bottle into a little work of art. Vintage decor always has a spot in my ever beating heart. Maybe it’s how delicate vintage things look. Plus it has a story. Unlike something you would buy off of the shelf. Which is why I am doing this craft because not everyone has “access” to all things vintage.

Martha Stewart Paint
Bottle Caps
Martha Stewart Bakers Twine
Martha Stewart Stencil
Food Coloring
Silk Acrylic Glazes
Glass Bottles
Mod Podge Sparkle
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
Martha Stewart brushes
Lace string
Martha Stewart Foam Pouncer

First thing you will do is mix some Mod Podge sparkle with a little bit of food coloring. Let me tell you that you only need a few drops. You don’t want it to be super dark . We want it to dry translucent.

When you are done mixing start brushing your Mod Podge on. Seriously when I paint glass I always get super excited inside! It’s like WOW! How come I didn’t know about this years ago. (fist pumping)

You might have to put 2 layers. It just depends on how dark your mix was. I always set it in the sun right after I paint the glass. It dries really quick.

Now I will tell you about my good friends RIDICULOUSLY amazing site. I am sure you heard of her…

The Graphics Fairy. Boom. Pow. Wow. That is what you will feel when you get to her site. You might just get glued to the puter for a bit longer than you had planned. I swear. I experience it all of the time, haha.

Once you have the images you want it’s time to “dress” them up! I am using these amazing silk acrylic glazes. Do you remember when I used them in this post? I am using the glazes as a resist which means when I put any other paint on top of the glaze it won’t stick to the glaze. This is a really cool technique because you can create a lot of dimension in your art. I am using Olive Vine for this image. Find the wreath with Bee in it here.

What I did first was take my stencil and put it around my image. Lightly pounce your glaze onto the stencil.

With the next image I used a butterfly stencil inside of my graphics fairy image. I repeated the previous step. For this color I mixed some Olive Vine with Ice. It made such a pretty color!

For the Horse I thought this stencil would be interesting to use. The solar gold is AMAZEBALLS!

Once you finish doing all of your stenciling you will get some acrylic paint and put a light coat on top of your entire image. Don’t worry about the edges being perfect because we will be doing something in a minute with them. After you apply the paint quickly rub with a paper towel. You will notice the glaze will pop through the paint. Sometimes if I find the acrylic paint is too thick I will add a pinch of water to thin it out. I actually suggest doing this!

I love pink and green together…

After you are done with your painting and everything is dry we will start the BURNING. I always love when I get to play with fire. Don’t ya! I light it for a second then quickly blow it out. I like this process because it doesn’t burn to much at one time.

When you are done burning and happy with the size it’s time to MOD PODGE!!!! I wanted to make my bottles “shine” so I used the Mod Podge Sparkle. If you have not used this one yet… Get ready because it’s so pretty you might actually try to taste it…(no, I didn’t do this haha)

When you have all of your images on the bottles and they are dry we will start to decorate them. If you notice in my “ingredients” there are things there that I didn’t actually use. I just wanted to give you some ideas of things you CAN use to decorate with. Sometimes it helps to actually see it then your brain will say.. “ey, I like that”.

This lace actually has a sticky side so you can peel and stick. It’s that easy! I wrapped some baker’s twine around the neck of one to add a cute touch to it.

If you are wondering WHY the bottle to the left is missing it’s butterfly, it’s because when I tried burning the underneath of the paper I was talking to someone and guess what… I burned right through the paper. Do you see that brown spot on the horse picture? This is what happens if you put the flame “under” the image for a FEW seconds. It makes it look a little old (unless you burn it through and through). I just grabbed another image from the Graphics Fairy and placed it on top. This project is also fun because you might realize when you are almost done that you want to add another layer to your bottle. Which is ALWAYS good!

Be careful that you don’t drop any bottles on the ground while transporting them. (yes I broke one)

You might find yourself doing the same craft over again…

Well Jaderbugs, I hope you enjoyed this craft as much as I did!  Don’t forget to follow me here (below).

Happy Saturday Jaderbugs!

I know I mentioned in a previous post that I was gonna share everything that happened at BlogHer12. I still am. Don’t let this little instagram video fool ya. I have TON’S of pictures that I took with the “real” camera but wanted to do my weekly instagram still. We had so much fun and I met ton’s of amazing people.

Some people in the slide show are Martha Stewart,  Karen from The Graphics Fairy, Missy from Bitten and Bound, Darcy Miller from Martha Stewart Weddings, Sarah Carey from Everyday Foods, Kathy/Crafty Chica, Haley from the Zen of making, Jenny from Craft Test Dummies, Simone from Spazzgirl, Margaret Cho, and Jennifer from Hydrangea Hippo.

I can’t wait to share my tutorial’s this week. They are surely fun and fun. (I know I said that twice but that’s how I feel about them).

Sometimes I wonder if I am the only one who is MADLY addicted to instagram. Thinking of addicted. I think I am addicted to my phone too. Who isn’t these days!!!

See ya in the next post Jaderbugs!
OH! One more thing. I am adding something new to my weekly posts. Can you guess?

I will start with doing this once a week, on Friday’s. I am really excited because I love fashion but I never thought to share it with my Jaderbugs. I can’t wait because I will be showing you fun things you can do with things you “prolly” already have.
