Painted Paper Towel Holder

Today I will show you how to change your kitchen decor in 10 minutes. Painted paper towel holders are the new thing, didn’t you know? Especially the kind that look like the Easter Bunny popped out.

Is it just me or does anyone else constantly think of changing things in their house? I am starting to believe I am nuts. Clearly I have a minor DIY problem.

Good news is things will never get boring…right?

I know what you are thinking. Why is the spray paint can orange but the the color she is using is purple.

What can I say I change my mind too much. For some reason I was channeling my inner Easter Bunny.

I am sure next week I will paint it black or white.

Stay tuned.

I guess my point is showing you that you can take something you have already and change the entire look with a little spray paint. I love that I think with the right part of my brain because I am constantly thinking of ways to show you things like this. Hopefully someone will love my pastel purple paper towel holder as much as me. Let me know what you think!

Welcome to the happiest place on earth, well besides Disneyland. Today I will show you the chevron pillow cases that I created for the I love to create blog. Incase you do not know already, I am a contributor for them and I post every two weeks. So that is something you can surely look forward to. Click here to get to the site.

First things first. I had a blast making these. I originally planned to make two rainbow ones but the Universe told me to make a more sophisticated one for anyone who is not fond of every color on earth.

chevron pillow cases

So I did. I am super giddy about the multi-colored one however I am very happy with the black, white and gold one. I hate to even say this because it’s going against my rainbow fairies’ orders but I like it better than the multi-colored one. I know you are shaking your head right now in disbelief. How could I like anything more than rainbow!

Could I use the excuse that I am from Louisiana and I love the Saints? Even if I can’t I am still going to go with that.

After looking at the darker pillow case I realized that it would be so easy to accessorize with a load of chevron pillows. A group of black and white would look so stinking chic. Sheet, I am shaking my head just thinking about it.  How-to-paint-on-fabric

Hopefully you are jumping like a jumping bean right about now. Have fun making these and make sure to send me pics of the ones you make!  I’d love to see what creative colors you choose to use. See you in the next post Jaderbugs!

I am in love with this easy tutorial on how to paint on glass. I hope you get inspired and make 19 of them, seriously.

HOW TO PAINT ON GLASS

What goes better with a beautiful cake or yummy cookies?
1) A glass dome
2) A etched and painted glass dome

{drum roll  and the sound of a roaring crowd yells)
A painted glass dome!!!

I love fine art but what I love more is making inspiration pieces that go with certain pieces. I love Kandinsky so I dedicated this piece to him and his abstract-ness. If you are not familiar with his work, check out the picture below.

I purchased this glass dome/ punch dish from Wal-Mart. Seriously it was 11 bucks. That is so cheap I can make a new dome for each holiday. Oh lard.

how-to-paint-on-glass-jaderbomb

1) Get your Martha Stewart glass patterning tape and lay a strip down on wax paper. After you apply the first strip add another one right on top.

how-to-paint-on-glass-jaderbomb

The reason we are putting two pieces on top of each other is to make it sturdy enough to punch through. I am using a one inch circle punch. You can use any size you want but if it’s bigger than one inch you will have to make your strip of tape wider.

how-to-paint-on-glass-jaderbomb

2) Punch a hole right through your tape.
The reason we put wax paper under the tape is so we can peel it off when we are ready to use it. It’s like a homemade sticker.

how-to-paint-on-glass-jaderbomb

3) Take the wax paper off of each circle and placed them on the glass.
I only want to etch the circle shape which is why I am using this part of the punch.

how-to-paint-on-glass-jaderbomb

 4) To create the whimsical boarder around the bottom you will follow the same steps but cut out triangles.
Are you shaking your head at how easy this is so far?

how-to-paint-on-glass-jaderbomb

5) Get a small cotton ball with alcohol and clean the spots you will be etching.
This cleans the oil off of the glass.

how-to-paint-on-glass-jaderbomb.jpg

6)Apply an even coat over every thing then let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse under running water.

This part is so much fun and did I mention easy! The etching cream comes with a brush that you will use. I dipped the brush into the cream and applied it directly to the glass surface. You want to put enough while making sure you blend it nicely.
P.S. Don’t lather the cream like I did. Epic fail.

HOW TO ETCH

7)I did one layer of dots, cleaned my glass then applied more dots.

how-to-paint-on-glass-jaderbomb

Once you are done grab your glass paint. I used Vanilla Bean, Yellow Jacket, Black Nickel, Geranium, Wedding Cake and Pool .

DIY ETCHED GLASS

8) Start making circles with your glass paint.

I like to mix one or two colors together while they are wet. Doesn’t everything work better when wet?!

ETCHED GLASS

If you want to add that extra snazziness to your dome you can paint on the bottom.

WHIMSICAL CAKE DOME

I just painted the creases that were already there then topped them off with bright yellow dots.

DIY PAINTED AND ETCHED GLASS

The one thing I love about this project is you can use whatever colors you want and anyone at any age can do this. It’s like rainbow lights instead of road lights. Good luck sticking things in this dome because I think the bright circus like print on the outside makes things on the inside look yummier.

Happy Friday! I am so stinking excited about this post mainly because it’s so fun to make it. I write for I love to create every two weeks and I am always looking for different ways to incorporate tie-dye into our lives. You know, creating ways other than doing a t-shirt. Hurry and check out the FULL TUTORIAL HERE!
