Dear Universe, thank you for sending me a huge box of Martha Stewart Crafts Glass Paint by Plaid. When I say there is a party going on in my head, believe that! I am always amazed by Martha Stewart’s products. They are consistent and dependable.  Martha Stewart has this new line of glass paint out and I was so honored to review the glass paint and glass accessories. I will tell you the one thing I could not wait to get my hands on the adhesive silk screens. Yep, you heard that right. Adhesive.

In today’s tutorial I will show you how to turn a boring plate into a phenomenal work of art, and all by using the  Martha Stewart Crafts Glass Paint.

These are all of the new glass tools. They work great with her Crafts Glass Paint.

Check out these whimsical colors! The groups matter in this case. Some of the frost colors look very pigmented but in actuality they are very translucent. I don’t mind that because when I think of glass paint I think of something that light can actually pass through.

These are some of the new stencils for the glass line. The great thing about all of the stencils are the adhesive backs. You can adhere them to anything, which in return will give you a perfect stencil.  No bleeding with these!

You can find the Martha Stewart Glass Paint from Plaid at all at Michaels stores.

I made this “sample” so I could see what color I want to use. One reason I recommend doing this is because some of the colors change once they get on  the glass. I used some plastic knives, painted each color on the tip, wrote the name on the other end, drilled a hole in them and voila! I can always go back to this for reference. I know, it’s extra work but totally worth it in the end. (I actually think this is so pretty).

Ingredients:

Martha Stewart Glass Paint
Glass Handled Squeegee
Glass Squeegee Set
Glass Tools & Accessories
Glass Silkscreen – Doily Lace
Glass Plate
Tea lights glass holders
Scissors
Alcohol
Cotton Balls
Paper towels
*Bright and Happy Thoughts
[this is the most important ingredient]

First thing you will do is clean your surface with soap and water. When it’s dry take off any residue by rubbing alcohol over the entire surface.

When you open your pack of silk screen stencils you will notice they are on one sheet. Get your scissors and cut along all of the lines. Your silk screens are separated and ready to use.

When your surface is ready you will gently peel the stencil off of the paper. Remember you have natural oils on your hands so try not to touch the adhesive backing too much. Place your stencil where you want it and lightly press the stencil down with your hand. I used a paper towel to rub it down onto my plate. Double check for any bubbles or lumps before you start applying the paint.

You do not need a ton of paint to do a silk screen. Put a line of paint at the top of your stencil and get your squeegee ready. If you wanted you could also use the dauber instead of the squeegee. I tried both of them and was pleased with how smooth the paint looked when I used the squeegee.

P.S. If you mess up and you need  to start over, put some alcohol on a cotton swab and rub your paint off of the surface. This can only happen when your paint is wet. If you notice a mistake when it’s dry, use your scraper for that. That baby works wonders.

Slowly start pulling the paint down over the stencil. Try to let the squeegee do all of the work, be gentle and you will get consistent results.

Make sure to take your stencil off while the paint is wet.  It’s very important after you put a coat of paint to take the stencil off immediately and put it in water. If you let it dry on your surface then pull it off, it will more than likely pull up some of your paint.  You do not want the paint to dry on the silk screen.
After you clean your silk screen let it dry and you can reuse it again. How awesome is this!

[Are you getting excited?}

This is what it will look like when it’s done. Make sure to let the paint dry before you do your next layer of paint. It’s not mandatory but you will see better results if you do this.

One thing that I am loving is the tip on the bottles. The tapered tip makes it really easy to free hand pretty much anything. I think it adds that whimsical pop to your project.
Mexican Folk Art is screaming all over this already, don’t you agree. I also made two tea light holders to go along with the plate. I used the exact same process as the plate.

Are you inspired yet?

When you are done it’s important you let your project air dry for about an hour. You can cure the paint by sticking in an oven for 30 minutes at 350°.  Get the complete glass baking instructions here.  FYI: The fine glitter paint can NOT go in the oven.

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial because I had a blast making this craft. I already have ton’s of ideas going through my head so stay tuned for more crafts with Martha Stewart Crafts Glass Paint.

Quote of the day:
Not fare well, But fare forward, voyagers -T.S. Eliot

Hello to all my Jaderbugs out there. It’s a wonderful hump day and I have a wonderful FREE printable for you. The other day I found some fun things on ETSY that had an olive on it and the words “Olive You”. It’s really all over if you look. Sometimes you may find yourself looking at something and all of the sudden your own cray cray brain starts going bonkers. Oh, your’s doesn’t do that?
[hehe]
After looking around online I had to leave to run errands, but that dang “Olive You” would not get out of my head. Finally my brain thought of a similar but new saying. So, I googled it, searched etsy, searched pinterest and nothing. I had to make make sure it wasn’t coming to me because of something I previously saw. Can you believe I found NOTHING. That’s right.  Stay tuned for some fun things coming with this saying on them! That’s all I will say…

So, I made you this fun FREE printable! It’s really cute. The way it’s centered in the page allows you to cut it to a 5×7 after you print it. What are some things you can use this for? Well, you can give it to someone you love, print it on photo paper and give to someone who is getting married, you could put it up for Valentines day, mail it to someone, use it in your scrapbook or you can put it up in your house because it just makes you smile.

Quote of the Day:
“Our hearts are broken, but they are beating, and they are beating stronger than ever.” -Rudolph Giuliani, New York City mayor.

9-11
It’s 4:39 am in the morning.

I am not quite sure why I am up right now. Maybe because I went to bed last night thinking looking at a note I have in my phone. It’s a note that I have been carrying over from phone to phone for many years now. It says:

9:55 am South tower falls
10:28 am North tower falls

Everyone in the world has their own memory of that day. Their own feelings. I try not to think of the negative feelings I felt that day and how scary it was. Even thought I remember that morning down to the candle I had burning in my house. It’s too crisp. I had a printable ready to post this morning for you, (a cute one yeah) and about an hour ago when I woke up I felt the urge to post about this. So it am. It’s not a tutorial. Just a memory that I am offering to share with my awesome Jaderbugs.

Just like the memories I have of that horrible day I also have another AMAZING memory. It’s a day I could not have planned better. Dad and I. New York. Making memories. Twin Towers. BONDING. Yes. Me and my dad went to the memorial site. I will let the pictures do the talking. My dad was in the service a long time ago. I remember before we walked up to the spot where you enter the site, dad looked at me and patted me on my shoulder then hugged me. He told me that he never thought he would ever come to this spot. It was an emotional day, but a good one. I believe it healed us both a little. I can’t even explain the energy there. It’s so overwhelming.

This picture is at the actual memorial site. You can see they are slowly rebuilding, because that’s what we do. Nothing can ever break what is so strong.

Dad found out in New York that he loved to take pictures. I remember sitting on a bench right by the tower that is coming back up and teaching my dad what buttons to press. I think everyday he had my camera around his neck. Lemme tell you he is good! What you can’t see in the lawn picture is the ONE tree that survived. It has a metal ring around it so nobody can touch it. That was pretty cool to see. When we were leaving dad wanted to take my picture. He said the background was so pretty and he wanted to have a mental picture of me in that moment. (insert tear).  We stopped to get nuts and when we each ate one, they were hard as a rock. We just looked at each other and laughed. Oh, and they were around 13 bucks! haha

Later that day we went to the Empire state building. It was so different looking at New York from such a high place. Yep, dad had the camera the rest of the day. The city was in back of me and the building that has that big Y on top of it is the tower that is slowly going back up.

I hope you enjoyed coming to New York city with us! Make sure and come back tomorrow for a fun printable. You don’t want to miss it because it’s super cool!

See you in the next post Jaderbugs!

“The race is over, but the work never is done while the power of work remains.” -Oliver Holmes

Happy “had a blast watching football all day” SUNDAY! I will be the first to tell you I am not passionate about football. But Ashy and Lil one have a special bond when it comes to sports. It makes me smile from ear to ear when I see her teaching him everything there is to know about football. I figured out today that I “love” the feel of football. I like my house during football season. It’s cozy, warm and LOUD.  This morning the temperature was cooler than it usually is, which made it feel like Fall.
{time for FALL crafts, hehe}

I wasn’t sure if I was going to post this or not. I didn’t make it from scratch but I figured I might as well share some of the creative things that go on in my head with you. This summer when we remodeled our house I decided to keep some of the “original” drawers. I mean, they were only like 75 years old or older.

They look old. I like that. If you wanted to make it look new you could sand it down and paint it a solid color. We actually put that liner in the drawers when we bought our house 9 years ago. I figured I would keep it to save that memory. I think it’s the cutest and cheapest decor in my house. We actually kept a few other things from the house and I will be posting them soon.

I had to post this picture because it was a moment I had to remember. When we were hanging the drawer on the wall one of our large milk glass bowls fell on the floor.

It broke. It’s ok. I swear.
{insert a crying laugh here}

See you in the next post Jaderbugs!

I am so happy that it’s finally Friday! Are you?

Quote of the day:
“Real success is simply being able to put in a good day’s work…and then go to sleep knowing that you have not–and will not–cause anything wrong to happen to anyone else.”
-Charles Forte

This week felt like it had big bright wings on it and flew right past me. I did have a lil cold this week…ok a BIG cold but I am getting much better and I think today’s fun free printable will show you that. I showed Ashy this last night and she loved it. When she loves something I create I know it’s good, haha.

With Fall heading our way I wanted to do these fun antique blue mason jar printables. These always remind me of Fall. Maybe it’s because in my head I visualize yummy strawberry preserves in them, the windows open (cool air), toast in the toaster and the Garden State soundtrack playing in the background.
Now are you feeling that Fall feeling in your bones?

The fun thing about this printable is that you can print it out and use it to write notes on, write a love letter or put your boring reminders on them.
Good news is your reminders will look pretty.

I made 4 different color’s for you and I think you will love them. Make sure and tell your friends about my site because I have lot’s of fun printable’s coming up!

You can also print these out on photo paper, write a note on it and frame it in your house. It’s little things like this that that make your home feel cozy. Print it out and write a note to someone. Yes, I mean the old school way (through the mail). You can make it smaller if you want also! Print out ton’s of them and make your own notebook! When you print it out depending on your printers setting’s you might have to trim some of your edges just a little bit. I do this every single time so I have just the actual image. Wanna see my printable in action?

HOW FUN IS THAT!

Howdy Hoo Jaderbugs! Can you believe it’s already almost Thursday? I started thinking earlier about this…what if we worked on Saturday and Sunday and our “weekend” was the entire week! That would be so great, right! The only bad thing is a blogger’s life is spent blogging. So I really wouldn’t have any time off.

Quote of the day:
Whoever knocks persistently, ends by entering.”

The picture at the top is fun right. I think is super fannn-cyyyyyy (say that with your lip cocked to the side and a victorian voice). I don’t have a  CAT but if I did it would look like this. Top hat and all!

Did I share the news with you that I am now a contributing editor for The Graphics Fairy-Crafts. How coolio is that! She has the best graphics ever! I really had fun getting creative with this one and if you want to see the FULL TUTORIAL on how I made this from beginning to end then head on over to Karen’s blog to see it!
