Being a kid can be a pretty big deal and getting your your child to listen can be a bigger deal. Every kid is completely different which means each will have different incentives that work and don’t work. Trust me, I have tried many and I think I found one that is fun, interactive and does it’s job. I think being a parent sometimes we think we know it all when sometimes what we are missing is one thing. Listening to our children. Don’t get me wrong, it can be hard at times. Waking up each day, rushing to get out of the door, work, school, every day afternoon activities, cooking supper and getting ready for bed is enough on it’s own. Dealing with a child who might not listen, talks back or whatever else on top of your daily regime can make you feel like you want to pull all of your hair out. The key is finding that button on your kid.

I don’t know what you do to get your child to listen, but I think when you start giving things like gifts and money you could possibly send them the wrong message. See I am not a professional. I have a 12 year old who is amazing, bright, fun & energetic. There are times when he get’s punished and things get taken from him because he is a normal 12 year old boy.
But with all that comes along with having kids I wouldn’t trade all of up’s and down’s for anything in the world. I get to teach my son right from wrong, good from bad, fake from real, how to be a nice person, how not to be selfish and so much more. It’s my favorite thing about my life. I get to see this little mini me ( and boy is he just like me) grow up into a beautiful young man.

get your child to listen

So, back to this post. I wanted to share with you what works in our house. We keep a jar out filled with marshmallows. If something get’s taken away he can earn it back by filling up the empty jar with marshmallows. Wanna know the best treat? When he is done filling the jar up, the marshmallows are his to keep. I am not sure if that is what he looks forward to or getting back what he was punished from!

All I am saying is it’s fun. Make it a fun activity for you kid. Every time they do something kind, nice, use their manners, do things with out being told or anything else positive then you can tell them to add however many marshmallows that you think they earned! Believe it or not, it works!

P.S. You can use anything you would like to fill the jar up. I like marshmallows because you can see progress fairly quick. Don’t forget kids are impatient, if something takes to long to happen they will get distracted.

I can’t wait to show you today how I made a dog bed out of an old television. It’s the best dog bed in my eyes and I know you re going to love it. Some beds for dogs are not the coziest and I figured out a way to make a cozy one that’s great for cat’s too. It’s pretty simple to make which makes it nice. I am loving how unique it looks. Most dog beds can look a little generic but not this one. It’s a Jaderbomb dog bed!

How cute is Ceaux Ceaux here! She loves her new bed so much. I think certain dogs like to be in small spaces because it makes them feel safe and secure. Ceaux Ceaux is part beagle and terrier and they love being in a small spaces. I drove up one day at home and my neighbor had this T.V. at the road. I don’t know why I wanted it but I knew it would be something cute. Once I got it home I started to gut it out it. Then I realized it could be a dog bed. Right! It’s really simple to make so let’s get started!

How_to_make_a_dog_bed

1. The first thing you will do is find an old T.V.

2. See how your animal looks in it,hehe

3. Gut out the entire thing!

4. Start painting it the color of choice. I like things to look “clean and crisp” so white is what I chose.
It’s really that simple. You can also paint or decorate the inside to add your personal touch.

Just thought I would share with you my roses. I have this crazy habit that forces me to buy fresh flowers every week. Trust me they usually take me from 1 to 100 in about five minutes. The good thing about flowers is you can choose different ones each week depending on your mood, how you feel or colors you are attracted to. I always have different ones but my FAVORITE flower is the stargazer lily.

You will continue to Mod Podge until the entire tray is covered. Don’t worry if this is your first time using Mod Podge. It looks Matte when you paint it on but dries clear. Thanks goodness! This is why I use this on the “daily”.

Once you have it all covered with your material you are using and it’s dry you can start gluing on your jewels.

I just make a line of hot glue then place my jewels down. Don’t do a super long line because it dries pretty fast.

This is what it will look like when you are done. I think it’s gorgeous and the good thing is it’s super affordable! You can make these for someone and give it to them as a gift!

Happy Monday Jaderbugs! I hope everyone had a ridiculously good weekend. Here in Louisiana it was rainy and gloomy. But that didn’t stop the crafting I tell ya. I have always been a fan of line drawings. They capture things that paint couldn’t ever capture which is why I am so excited to share this craft with you today. The thing I love the most about this craft is ANYONE can do it. It’s super simple and they turn out fabulous. Who would of ever thunk it?

You can have some ideas of things you want to create before you start or you can just go with the flow. I had a few images in mind that I wanted to create. You can lightly draw on your card stock with a pencil so you have a simple guideline to follow.

Ink-Blown-Art

INGREDIENTS:

*Card Stock
*India Ink
*Small Straw or Big Straw

Purchase all of the items I used by clicking on the links in the ingredient section.

Let’s get started!!

Ink-Blown-Art

Here are all of the things you will need. If you use a small straw know that it will give you FINE lines, if you use a big straw it will give you THICK lines. I used a small one.

Ink-Blown-Art

This is the india ink I used. I purchased it at Hobby Lobby.

Ink-Blown-Art

The first  thing you will do drop a little drop of India ink on your card stock.

Ink-Blown-Art

This is what it will look like.

Ink-Blown-Art

Grab your straw and start blowing. The harder you blow the more you will see the ink blow in every direction. If you wiggle the straw back and forth while you blow the lines will really take off.

The picture above is “supposed” to be a woman with her hair all around her. Do ya see it?

Ink-Blown-Art

Do you see Holly Hobbie in the picture? My Holly Hobbie is reading a book. I love her.

Ink-Blown-Art

This is the trash can that Ash used to have. I found this one on Etsy, you can buy it HERE.

I love this because it’s completely affordable and it will spruce up ANY space!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial! Don’t forget to make it a DIY kinda day,

Today we will be making paper bag flags out of….. paper bags! I love finding things that can be re-purposed into something completely opposite of what it really is! The good thing about this tutorial is it’s easy and you can get as creative as you want by decorating them.

Let’s get started!

paperbagflags

Ingredients:

*Scissors
*Brown Paper Bag
*Bakers Twine
*Rubber Stamps
*Black Paint
*Mini Clothespins

The first thing you will need to do is cut triangles out of the brown paper bag. (woop woop, this bag was fuh-ree)

Tadahh! This is what mini triangles look like next to each other. I always get brown paper bags instead of plastic so you can imagine how many brown paper bags I own…

I like to use a paint brush on my rubber stamp because it has a different texture to it. Plus, it’s a little darker. Make sure you ONLY paint on the letter. You could also Mod Podge a smaller triangle in the middle using scrapbook paper. I buy my scrapbook paper here.

I think I am the only person that get’s {super duper} excited when I see bakers twine. Do you? What is your favorite color?

You can stamp whatever you want on your mini triangles. You can also cut them small or LARGE. It just depends on the space you are putting them in. When you are done with everything I like to lay everything out like this.

Last thing is to grab your mini clothespins {that you bought from my shop} and pin the twine to the mini triangle.

There you have it, Paper Bag Flags!

See how cute they look once you put them up. You can be completely creative with this and cut out fabric or scrapbook paper to do the same thing. This is a a great “COUNTDOWN” for kids. You could do this for the whole month of December and they could take down each number a day! How cute!

Huge Glittery Hugs, Jade

Hellerrrrr, how you derin! Happy “hump” day!

I had the HONOR of seeing my godchildren this week and since they live a goooooood ways from me this was a nice little treat! I told baby girl (god child #2) we would CRAFT! She is just like her Nanny, I swear. I have beautiful Hydrangea’s in my back yard (did I mention BE-YOU-TI-FUL) so we decided to pick some for my house.

See how full they are! Baby girl LOVED them! She said “NANNY, they are pretty like you”… {{melted my heart}}

We picked a BIG bunch of them and headed back to the house. I remember running across this a while back…

I figured this would be the BEST time to get er done. So I said to baby girl “wanna make a FUN wreath to put on my front door” and she said… “NO”. I wanna put them on my picture art. Yep, she said “PICTURE ART”. So guess what we did.

PICTURE ART.

It really was a fun and exciting thing to do considering I have NEVER used fresh flowers before on a craft. We went in my studio and I gave her a shoe box top and said, “get what you want”. These are the things she grabbed.

INGREDIENTS:

I love all of the things she picked. Confirmed to me that she was MEANT to be my GODCHILD!

So we started crafting. Well, I should say SHE started crafting. I let her make all of the rules and she took off! Just goes to show you if you allow your mind to be FREE it could create some pretty amazing things.

Yep! This is part of her “FINAL” piece! How lovely is it! The flowers are all brown now but the memory is still there. I mean, isn’t that what really matters!

I love you Bay!
