Hi Friends! It’s been a hot minute but that’s ok because I have been whipping up some rad projects in the studio for you! Today I will show you how to make these classic Leather Mason Jars.

I while back I was contacted by Xyron to review their new Creative Station. I have never used any of their products before so you can imagine my excitement! Now I know a lot of crafters out there use this machine for scrapbooking however I wanted to change it up and do a cute DIY for you.

This is a sponsored post. All opinions are 100% mine.

Creative Station

A bold new design and great new features add even more versatility to the all-in-one Xyron Creative Station™. Adding adhesive, magnet or laminate to your projects has never been easier. Now you can use both 5in and 9in Creative Station cartridges letting you replace 2 of your machines with this one sleek gadget. Save space at home and waste less by changing the refill size to fit the project. When you upgrade to the new Creative Station, you will love using the same patented cartridges you have always trusted for your most important projects.

With the all new Creative Station, your projects will look better than ever – no matter how big or small!

creative station

First I want to go over a few things on the new Creative Station. It’s really easy to work with and you will realize it when you get it.

On the side of the machine there is a handle that is tucked into the machine. Simply pull it out and it will be ready to use.

craft tools

They have a green button on the from of the machine that opens the top portion. You will open this when want to refill or replace your cartridges. When you are done close the top piece securely.

They have a silver flap that opens which allows you to place things on before sending it through the machine. It holds sheets of paper nicely also!xyron diy projects

Step One: Cut your leather in the shapes you want. I wanted to have multiple shapes so I cut my freehand.

Step Two: Place your strip of leather horizontally on your machine then slowly push it in as much as you can. It will grab on to the tiny piece of adhesive which keeps it in the correct place before you send it through the machine.

When this is done slowly start turning the handle and you will be amazed at how easily it goes through the machine.

Step Three: When it comes out the other end you can use the orange nob to cut the paper. How easy is this!new xyron creative station

Step Four: Peel off the top layer and your leather will be exposed on top but still stuck to the bottom piece of paper. Gently peel it off and you will see all of the sticky adhesive stuck to the back side of the leather. fall projects

This is what the adhesive will look like once you peel it off the paper.

The Creative Station is not JUST for paper, apply adhesive to burlap, fabric, felt, foam acrylic, wood and so much more!

The leather is easy to move around once you peel it off the paper. I simply added the leather strips to the top of the mason jar to get the look I was going for. mason jar diy

I made inspirational sticks in my mason jars and to make them you will need fun coasters and paper straws.

pink doily

Step One: Place two of them in the back of your machine. Remember, we want to stick these two together.

Step Two: Follow the steps I wrote for the leather. You will be doing the same exact thing no matter what you send through the machine. pink crafts

Step Three: Peel the coaster off the paper and stick a paper straw directly in the middle. Place the second coaster directly on top of the first one and press firmly together. You will want to smash the straw as well or they will peel apart. easy table setting projects

How pretty are these! You can use these for so many different occasions it’s unreal! Now comes the fun part, writing awesome inspirational quotes on them. party projects

The best thing about these mason jars is you can fill them with anything your heart desires. I love the way the leather looks on these shabby chic mason jars. It takes them to a whole new level of modern awesomeness! party diy

“Hip Hop Hooray, Hoooo” for the DIY Leather Cuff we are making today… Right about here you can insert a big old turquoise rock in my mouth. For some reason I am listening to sad, sad music on my computer but that song is BLASTING in my head. It’s probably because Marisa Pawelco’s die cuts are amaze-balls!

timthumb

I am all about buying leather cuffs because let’s face it it’s easier and most of us don’t have the patience to sit there and cut a perfect line on leather. Remember when I made this one! I think Marisa though of all the impatient people out there when she designed her line with Sizzix!

♥→Today I will show you how to use an awesome crafting tool and how to create the most unique leather cuff using it.

DIY Leather CuffIf you are like me then you are totally in love with this turquoise rock! Let’s get started.
you will need
Scraps of Leather \ Brush \ Adhesive Bling \ Scissors \ Yarn \ Fabric Paint (optional) \ Sizzix Sophisticate Machine Only \  Sizzix Originals Die: Chained \ Sizzix Originals Die : Fashion Cuff

Hey! If you want to purchase any of the items I used in this tutorial you can click on the links above and get them all from the SAME spot! They are affiliate links which means you are helping me buy more glitter and gold to make you happy crafts!

leather cuff suppliesThe Sophisticate machine comes with a few parts that you will have to assemble, but don’t worry it’s simple!sizzix marisa pawelko

1. Insert the handle into the side of machine
2. Use the screw driver that came with the machine to secure screw inside of the handle
3. Insert the rubber cap that covers the hole

VOILA! Pretty simple huh!sizziz die cut

On each side of your die cut machine you press where the sticker is and the sides will flip open. marisa pawelko sizzix machine

These are the two die cuts we will be using today.

P.S. Do not remove the foam and be careful because the metal inside the rubber is really sharp.
Said no one who sliced their finger trying to “dissect” the chains.
marisa pawelko die cuts

You have two cutting pads that come with the machine and you will need both every time you cut something.
marisa pawelko

To start you will lay out your leather scrap and place one of  the cutting pads on top. With a pair of fabric scissors cut as close around the pad as you can. This does not have to be “perfect”, we just don’t want too much hanging off the edges.
cutting leather

This is how you will layer everything before we start inserting it into the machine.
1st layer: Cutting Pad
2nd layer: Die Cut of choice
3rd layer: Leather
4th layer: Cutting pad.

It’s like a crafty sandwich. Speaking of sandwiches, I think I want one with chips smashed on it.

Keep it all together nice and neat while inserting into the machine. The great thing is it’s convenient for anyone regardless if you are right handed or left.

Shoots, you can even do it with your feet if you want. making leather cuffs

This is what it will look like when you run it completely through the machine. How amazing! It’s like a slice of heaven on a platter. Check out how precise it cuts and those dots…PERFECTION.easy leather cuff

I love how detailed all of her die cuts are. Check out the chains! I have so many ideas just looking at them.

I am also in love with the negative space in this leather. You can even use this as a stencil now.leather diy

I am using shiny lion brand yarn for my string. I love this tan color. If you don’t like the way I am attaching the yarn you can simply tie a knot or put a chain on the ends. It’s really so versatile. 7.jpg

HAVE A GLITTERY DAY! ♥, Jade

Happy Monday Y’all! I am sitting at home with my coffee, listening to Enya and warming up my feet with a little floor heater at my desk. I am so pumped to share with you the tutorial I did on the I Love to Create Blog. I post every two weeks there incase you didn’t know. This leather cuff tutorial brings together two different looks that anyone can sport. A soft delicate flower with a rough biker edge to it. I am not quite sure if the two actually go together but I loved it. Once I made it I realized how cool it would be if I had a “collection” of leather cuffs. I mean one for each holiday, season etc. I think it’s a huge statement piece and you can never go wrong with a leather cuff. You could give these as Christmas presents, wedding favors, or just get a group of your friends together and make them!

This leather cuff tutorial is easy enough to whip out 5 in no time. Seriously when you see how easy it is you will be amazed. I hope you enjoy it.

Women’s 2011 Gift Guide

Happy MONDAY JADERBUGS! I can’t lie to you. I started to make a “wish list” for myself but after a little while I though this would be a fan-tabulous time to share things that everyone woud LOVE to have. There might be only ONE thing in this set that you may like but that is OK! I chose pieces that could change in color but remain ageless. See, the fact is every woman {{at least I think}} wants to feel pretty, confident and stylish. One thing I can’t seem to let go of is loving all of the things that made me happy as a child. It’s pretty amazing being able to walk around with enough confidence to wear all of the things you love. Soem people say “Why do you wear Hello Kitty things”… and I say because I love her anddddd why don’t you???? HAHA. I always tell people how happy she will make them feel!2011 Women's Wish List
