Pumpkin Cake Topper Supplies

The first thing you will do is grab a little ball of air dry clay. Roll it around in your hands until you make a round ball. how to make clay pumpkinsStick a toothpick through it letting a little piece stick out of the top. Once you do this get another toothpick and draw your lines in the pumpkin.

Let it dry over night then paint a coat of orange paint all over it. While your orange paint is still wet paint a little brown paint in the cracks. This will add an antique look to it.

VOILA!  How stinking cute are these! You could be a feisty fierce diva and put 10 pumpkins on a piece of cake or you could be simple and put one.

See you in the next post! ending1

Well whatduhwe have here. Candied citrus peels. I know it’s not a good ole snickers bar, but it’s actually a little better and could possibly be healthier. Hmmm, now that I think about it I did use a lot little bit of sugar. While I was cutting the skin off of  I decided to try a teeny tiny bite of a peeling (urghhh not a good thing). I just looked at myself in an imaginary mirror and said “Jade, just wait till you cook these suckers down”. Wanna know how I made them and what my final thoughts are? Let’s get started.

I love how beautiful they looked in these little containers!! Don’t you agree!

ingredients

♥ 1 naval orange
♥ 2 lemons
♥ 1 grapefruit

♥  paring knife
♥  nutmeg (personal amount)
♥  sugar (personal amount)

The day before I soak my baby bottles in ice cold water. This helps loosen the paper.
(Trust me it works)

I like to use a paring knife for this next step but if you don’t have one use whatever knife you have.  You want to peel the fruit carefully. That bitter white pith needs to stay it’s tail as much on the fruit as possible. I mean, it’s ok if “some” stay on the peels but just try to not put too much.
HUzzzUHHH

When you are done butchering your beautiful oranges and lemons slice them babies into strips like this. I keep them in separate piles  because I don’t like them mixed up! I sorta wish these were fruity gummy worms.

how to make candied fruit peelWhen you ready to get cray cray we will combine 4 cups of water with 2 cups of sugar in a small pot. Heat this until you see a cool looking boil and leave it for 4-5 minutes. Make sure to stir while this is going on. We want to spread out the sugar and allow it to dissolve evenly.

This is what you want to do next:
♥ Reduce heat and simmer  for about 5-7 minutes (pop your oven on 200 degrees while this is taking place)
♥ Take them out of water and lay them on a rack to cool off
♥ Once they are cool pop these suckers in the oven to dry out. Leave them in the oven for about 1 hour
♥ When you take them out of the oven sprinkle sugar and nutmeg on them
♥ Last thing to do it EAT THEM!

Store them in a DRY location. I gave some as gifts so that is why I used little baby food jars. Mason jars work good too!
They are good for about a week

I fell in love with these faceted oranges. I could jump through the screen to eat these juicy suckers.

After I made mine, I put a little black pepper on them. I personally love pepper so this is not mandatory.

If you are giving them as a gift you can throw a sticky label on them to identify the citrus. I used some from Martha Stewart’s line at staples. I love these so much. I have stock in them, fa reelz!

I made brownies and threw gently placed some peels on top.

NUMMMMMM! I hope you enjoyed this post.

When you open your pack of silk screens they will look like the picture above, all connected on one sheet.

If you notice they have white lines separating each design. You should cut along the line to separate them.

This is how they will look once you cut them.

Find the image you want to use and gently peel the silk screen off of the paper. I like to start on a corner. Plus if it get’s crinkled it will not mess up the actual image. Once you remove the silk screen place it where you want on the glass.

Martha-Stewart-Giveaway-APOTHECARY-jars-jaderbomb

Once you apply your silk screen to the glass add a bead of paint right above the image.

Get your squeegee and pull the paint down over the image. I suggest going from the top to the bottom in one stroke. It will make the paint consistent and even. Repeat the step if you have to do it in two layers.

As soon as you finish, peel the silk screen off of the glass. Very important that you wash it immediately.  If you let the paint dry on the silk screen it will not work properly again. Once you wash it lay it out on a towel to dry.

Move on to your next jar.

Dreaming of sugar plums, orange mist and vampires

Sometimes I wonder about a lot of things. Like oranges. Why do they spray a mist if you squeeze them? I swear it’s the best thing ever! Plus it smells like crazy good! I filmed a video tonight in my car because I had to tell you something and when I went to view it… NOT THERE. I totally looked like a fool driving and “thinking” I was filming only to find out that I wasn’t! Haha. I think a couple of cars passed me and prolly thought “what in the world is this wanna be vampire doing”… Oh wait you didn’t know I was a vampire. (fine.i’m human). BUT I really wanted to tell you that I finally saw Breaking Dawn and I am even more in love.

I didn’t think Edward could get any hotter until he stepped off of that boat in “BEACH” clothes. I seriously just looked at Ashy and opened my mouth. She laughed. Then I shook my head. I am kinda mad though. WHY in the JOLLY GREEN GIANT would they split this book into two movies. Seriously. I would like to meet whoever decided to do that. It’s like a really bad vampire breakup. I get mad at the blood suckers when I have to wait too long, then I watch the movie over and all of a sudden they are off of the hook. But only for a moment. I figured I would take the color out of these awesome pictures I found hiding in my album. Bring a little darkness to these suckers. I am so in love with them because they all have awesome memories tied to them.

I hope everyone is ready and prepared (sorta haha) for Christmas! I am SO not ready but I will be ready for the registar war in the AM!

Feeling even more vampire-ishy and I wanna be Bella (just for 10 min),
