Getting Organized

Getting organized can sometimes seem like a major task especially when you have a thousand other things to do. I decided to organize a section in my office for a command center. I believe every house needs one of these. You will be surprised at how relaxed you will feel knowing everything has a spot and you don’t have to search for hours looking for that letter or note from school. Since I have three office spaces in my house things can sometimes get crazy. This main command center is working perfectly so far and I am excited to share with you how I accomplished this.

My best friend Martha Stewart sent me some great things from her home office line from Staples. I had so much fun getting organized and her products makes everything look crisp and clean, which is a huge plus in my book.

This is how my desk looks right now.

Below is what it looked like just just hours before I got my package in the mail from Martha!
Amazeballs, right!

The one thing I was super excited to get was this binder that you can fill with ton’s of great things. The yearly calendar has to be my favorite thing because without that I would not know which way is up and down. Check out some of the cool things you can buy separately for the binder.

organize your life

Now we are getting into the pretty stuff! I love a good calendar but desk accessories are my favorite. All these are stack and fit and they all fit together. You can make a tier out of them or use them individually as single containers. Check them all out here. There is so much to choose from.

office supplies that work

I can’t do without a Task Pad. This particular one goes in the disc bound notebook but I like it loose on my desk. I put a magnet on the back so I can stick it on the fridge, which is great for a grocery list.

martha stewart office supplies

There is one thing that makes my family happy and that is when pens, pencils and highlighters are organized and not mixed together. These products really saved us.

All of the stack and fit look like this.

This is a great example of how they fit together.

back to school organization

I love the  Stack+Fit™ Shagreen Inboxes like the one above. It serves as a base and you can stack ton’s of things above it like these trays.

being organized

It’s always good to have a nice candle to bring zen to your room. I love my little moss rock. I got this the last time I was on the show with Martha. I know it’s dead but it serves a purpose believe it or not. Just remember to put things in your space that bring happiness and make you smile. You want to create a space that makes everyone happy.

cute cork boards

I saved my favorite for the end. I love my cork board and the fantastic shape it comes in. Just one more thing to tie all of your goodies together.

organize your supplies

I will be doing a post soon on my studio but I wanted to share with you a tip on how I store my paint bottles and glitter. This is nice and makes it easy to grab that perfect shade quickly.

Something that could also help you stay organized is this book. I can’t wait to get my entire house organized like the pictures in here.

how to stay organized

Just remember you don’t have to change a whole room to get this. These products will change your whole perspective of getting organized.

February Challenge creative 1Happy Monday! I am so excited to share some denim crafts with you today! As a Michael’s Maker I was challenged by my friends at Michael’s to do something magical with their new line of denim products – Make Market. If you have not seen this line yet, now is the time! I can remember the day’s I would beg my friends for their old jeans so I could rip and tear them up. I used to always use denim and let me tell you this makes things NICE!

I love the variety of denim that is available. They have bows, ribbon, bags, canvases, wraps, cuts pieces and so much more!!! I started thinking about what I would make with the denim and then it dawned on me. I have a new chicken and she needs a basket to sleep in and I need a new basket to get our fresh eggs with. VOILA!

Here I am so excited next the denim line. Not cheesy at all! (hehe)

photo (10)2& and chicken. If you don’t have a chicken or fresh eggs you can still make this basket and use it for decoration or fill it with goodies and give to someone as a gift. silkie chickenI simply love this ribbon. I would be a little happier if they made some with adhesive backing! I mean then I could stick them on practically everything!blue jean craftsStep 1: Open a pack of ribbon and start on a corner, weaving the ribbon over and under the openings. It’s truly simple but time consuming.

Step 2: When you get all the way around cut the ribbon and tie on the corners.
1Once you get your first stripe start with your next one. You will start seeing the stripes appear and then…you will start to fall in love!

To make the chalkboard name tag: Cut the twine, write your message with a chalk marker then tie to the front of the basket. 3I bought this fluffy blue jean ribbon to add to the front of the basket. I love that it’s a clip. I can take it on and off and use it for other projects!4To make the chalkboard -n- denim planter: purchase a chalkboard pot or paint one and grab some denim -n- lace ribbon. Cut a piece and tie around the top of pot!  Grab your chalk marker and write your message on the pot!5

7Voila! It’s all done. You now have your magical denim basket to gather your eggs or goodies in.  You know… This would make a GREAT EASTER BASKET.

Michaels has named denim the craft trend of 2015! Denim has always been a wardrobe staple and now it’s emerging in crafts and home décor.

  • If you’re looking for some spring project inspiration, take a look at Michaels’ new Make Market line for DIY project and home décor ideas – all made with simple, on-trend surfaces and textures like chalk, denim, galvanized, burlap and cork.

raw-bar-header

Burlap Canvas Display As part of the Michael’s Makers team I will be creating crafty challenges each month. The challenge this month was to choose a product from the raw bar and and I chose the burlap stretched canvas to create a  Burlap Canvas Display.

Next month Michaels Stores is releasing a new line of products called Raw Bar and guess who got a little sneak peek, ME! I can’t wait for you to see this line so be on the lookout starting on August 8th because it will be available in all Michaels stores nationwide.  Michaels created the Raw Bar because customers requested raw surfaces that are unfinished and easily craft-able.

The Raw Bar is made by materials that are completely inspired by nature and some of the surfaces include wood, metal, canvas, chalkboard, cork, and burlap. Are you in mad love yet?

You will need:
♥Canvas Burlap
♥Cork Ribbon
♥Chalkboard Spray Paint
♥Miniature Easel
♥Wooden Spools
♥Twine
♥Scissors
♥Glue Gun

I know what you are thinking when you see this cork ribbon, “where has this been my whole life”… I will say it’s not thick enough to stick a tack through and hold something up but it’s very pliable and easy to work with. It’s truly the perfect “natural” touch to add to any craft you are working on!DSC_0479

I purchased this miniature easel from Michaels and they are so precious. DSC_0485

Step ONE ♥ Spray paint your easel and wooden spools. You might have to spray one side and wait for it to dry before you move on to coat the rest.
DSC_0486

Step TWO  ♥ Once your wooden spools are dry you can add a dab of hot glue to one side of the spool. DSC_0489

Step THREE  ♥ Carefully place the wooden spools on the top two corners of your canvas. These can be used merely for decoration or you can hang trinkets from them. Very versatile. DSC_0487

I love the contrast of the black chalk paint against the burlap canvas. It’s very natural and shabby chic. DSC_0491

Step FOUR ♥ Tear off a piece of cork ribbon. You will flip when you feel how awesome this ribbon is. I can see little girls already with cork bows in their beautiful hair. DSC_0496

Step FIVE ♥ Once you cut a decent length of ribbon off of the roll, you will fold it up a few times like below. You will then get your scissors and cut directly in the middle. DSC_0497

Step SIX ♥ Turn your burlap canvas over and place your cork ribbon along the back side to figure our how long or short you want your hanger to be. DSC_0498

Step SEVEN ♥ Once you decide on the length of your ribbon add a line of hot glue down the back side of your canvas and quickly place the ribbon on top of it. Careful not to burn yourself! Or if you do just yell really loud and you will feel MUCH better! DSC_0500

This is what your canvas will look like once you are done with the ribbon. DSC_0501

Step EIGHT ♥ Make sure your easel is sprayed completely with the chalkboard spray and once it’s dry add hot glue to the back side of the easel. DSC_0502

Step NINE ♥ Place the easel directly in the middle of the canvas. How cute is this!DSC_0505

Step TEN ♥ This is optional but I added a little clothespin that is a part of the line at the very top of the easel. I’ll tell ya, hot glue is like magic ♥

Now we can hang things from the spools, clip something with the clothespin or open up the easel and place a picture or anything that makes you happy on it. DSC_0507

I think this would be so cute in a bathroom, bedroom, office space or in a spot where you want to display cute things. burlap canvas display
